How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you passionate about delivering excellent customer service? Are you confident speaking with customers over the phone and comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced call centre environment?
    THOMAS Professional are excited to be working in partnership with Laithwaines Wine, a leading name in the wine industry, to recruit enthusiastic Customer Service Advisors to join their call centre team on a temporary basis until the end of December 2026.
    As a Customer Service Advisor, you will be supporting customers primarily over the phone, as well as via email and live chat, helping with a variety of enquiries and delivering an excellent customer experience.
    Pay & Hours
    Pay: £12.71 per hour + potential bonus, subject to eligibility and applicable criteria
    Typically Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm, however weekly hours may vary depending on business requirements. Flexibility is required to work until 6 pm on weekdays and Saturdays where scheduled as part of the weekly rota.

    What you’ll be doing
    * Handling inbound and outbound customer calls in a friendly, professional and efficient manner.
    * Responding to customer enquiries via phone, email and live chat.
    * Processing orders and managing customer accounts accurately.
    * Providing product information and guidance to customers.
    * Handling complaints with empathy and working towards positive solutions.
    * Delivering a consistently high standard of customer service.
    * Working towards individual and team targets.
    * Supporting the wider team during busy periods.
    What we’re looking for
    * Previous customer service experience is welcomed, whether gained in a call centre, retail, hospitality or another customer-facing environment – we’re also open to candidates from other backgrounds with transferable skills.
    * Excellent communication skills and a friendly, confident telephone manner.
    * A genuine passion for delivering great customer service.
    * The ability to remain calm and professional in a busy, fast-paced call centre environment.
    * Strong attention to detail and good computer literacy.
    * A positive, reliable and team-oriented approach.
    * Flexibility to support the needs of the business.
