How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Vehicle Technician
    Location: Basildon,Essex
    Employment Type: Full time, on- going contract
    Contract: LTD/ Outside IR35
    Pay rate: £23.00ph LTD
    Formel D is seeking two experienced Workshop/Vehicle Development Technicians to support tractor development and driveline-change activities at the Basildon facility of a leading agricultural vehicle manufacturer.
    The technicians will work alongside the customer’s test engineers, preparing and modifying development tractors, supporting testing activities, diagnosing mechanical issues and producing accurate technical reports.
    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    * Complete tractor driveline removal, installation and modification activities.
    * Prepare development tractors for engineering tests.
    * Carry out mechanical fitting, vehicle instrumentation and testing work.
    * Support test engineers in line with the agreed project timing plan.
    * Diagnose, repair and maintain mechanical and vehicle-system issues.
    * Assist with troubleshooting tractor faults and test failures.
    * Report software bugs and mechanical failures within 24 hours of discovery.
    * Produce detailed technical and non-conformity reports.
    * Complete a report for each activity performed.
    * Upload reports and supporting files to the customer’s reporting system.
    * Maintain a safe, organised and professional workshop environment.
    ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
    * Strong mechanical fitting or vehicle-technician experience.
    * Practical experience working with powertrain, driveline, transmission or vehicle subsystems.
    * Ability to remove, replace and modify mechanical vehicle assemblies.
    * Good mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
    * Ability to understand technical instructions and engineering documentation.
    * Ability to produce clear and accurate technical reports.
    * Full valid UK driving licence- Right to work in the UK.
    * Ability to work independently and alongside test and development engineers.
    * Availability to work on-site in Basildon for the project duration.
    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
    * Agricultural machinery, tractor, construction equipment, commercial vehicle or off-highway experience.
    * Good working knowledge of tractor subsystems.
    * Development workshop or prototype vehicle experience.
    * CANalyzer or CANcase experience.
    * Vehicle instrumentation or data-acquisition experience.
    * Experience using controlled test-reporting or non-conformity systems.
    * Candidates with strong automotive, commercial-vehicle or heavy-equipment driveline experience should still be considered where they do not have direct agricultural experience.
    WORKING PATTERN
    * Monday–Thursday: 07:00–16:00- Friday: 07:00–12:00
    * Potential weekday overtime of one to two additional hours- Potential Saturday working: 06:00–14:00
    * Overtime will depend on workload and require prior authorisation
