How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor

Permanent | Swindon | Competitive Salary + Package

An established and growing specialist contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality commercial interiors, refurbishment and fit-out projects across a range of sectors.

This position is ideally suited to a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working closely with operational teams, taking ownership of project finances and contributing to the successful delivery of projects from start to finish.

    The Opportunity

You'll take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple projects, ensuring costs are effectively controlled while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers. Working alongside Project Managers and senior leadership, you'll play a key role in protecting profitability, managing commercial risk and supporting successful project delivery.

This is a hands-on position offering genuine responsibility, career development and the chance to make a meaningful contribution within a collaborative and forward-thinking business.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Manage the commercial performance of projects from contract award through to final account.

    * Produce accurate cost plans, forecasts, CVRs and monthly commercial reports.

    * Prepare, negotiate and agree variations, valuations and final accounts.

    * Procure subcontractors and suppliers, including tender analysis and package negotiations.

    * Administer subcontract accounts, ensuring timely payments and effective commercial control.

    * Monitor project costs, cash flow and profitability throughout the construction programme.

    * Identify commercial risks and opportunities, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.

    * Work closely with project teams to provide commercial support and maximise project performance.

    * Maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants and the wider supply chain.

    * Ensure contractual obligations and company commercial procedures are consistently met.

    About You

We're looking for someone with proven contractor-side Quantity Surveying experience who understands the commercial realities of live construction projects.

You will ideally have experience within commercial fit-out, refurbishment, interiors, shopfitting or specialist subcontracting, and be confident managing projects through every stage of the commercial lifecycle.

    Essential Requirements

    * Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a contractor environment.

    * Strong commercial and contractual knowledge with experience administering construction contracts.

    * Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

    * Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.

    * Commercially aware with strong analytical and financial reporting abilities.

    * Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

    * Full UK driving licence.

    Desirable

    * Experience working on commercial fit-out, refurbishment or interior construction projects.

    * Knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts.

    * Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.

    What's on Offer

    * Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

    * Opportunity to join a successful and expanding contractor with a healthy pipeline of work.

    * Varied projects across commercial interiors and refurbishment sectors.

    * Supportive team environment with genuine opportunities for career progression.

    * A role where you'll have real influence over commercial performance and project success.

If you're an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to join a business where your expertise will be recognised and your career can continue to develop, we'd like to hear from you.
