How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced design professional looking to combine technical leadership, people management and continuous improvement within a growing and forward-thinking business.

    * Coordinate with project, commercial, manufacturing, procurement and installation teams, proactively managing design risks, technical challenges and programme impacts.
    * Provide technical leadership to clients and internal stakeholders, leading design meetings and ensuring projects are fully prepared before delivery begins.
    * Drive continuous improvement across design standards, BIM processes, Revit, ACC and digital workflows, promoting consistency and best practice.
    * Champion modern methods of construction, including Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), off-site manufacturing and modular construction.
    * Collaborate with senior leadership, external consultants and specialist suppliers to support successful project delivery and continuous improvement across the design function.
    * Support tender, ITT and pre-construction activities, providing practical, compliant and commercially aware technical solutions.
    * Monitor design progress, priorities and project milestones, ensuring effective planning and clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
    * Ensure all design outputs meet the highest standards of quality, coordination and compliance before issue.
    What We’re Looking For
    Essential (Must have)
    * Around 5-10 years’ design experience within the engineering, construction, manufacturing industries
    * Previous experience managing a design team or leading engineering and design processes.
    * Strong experience delivering multidisciplinary design projects.
    * Excellent Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). (REVIT Experience is ESSENTIAL)
    * Excellent understanding of BIM, design coordination and digital design workflows.
    * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
    * Good understanding of general construction methods, buildability and CDM principles.
    * A proactive approach to leadership, problem-solving and continuous improvement.
    Desirable (Not Essential)

    * Hybrid working 1-2 days a week with flexibility.
    * Opportunity to work on technically challenging projects across the UK and internationally.
    * Join a growing specialist engineering contractor with an excellent reputation.
    * Lead and develop a talented design team.
    * Play a key role in shaping design standards, digital processes and engineering excellence.
