How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    1:1 SEN Tutor - KS3 & KS4 | DRIVER ESSENTIAL

    Tradewind Recruitment - Sheffield

IMPORTANT: You must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle for this role.

    Location: Sheffield & surrounding areas
Pay: £25-£35 per hour, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time | Term Time Only

Tradewind Recruitment are looking for a dedicated 1:1 SEN Tutor to provide personalised educational support to KS3 and KS4 pupils who require additional support to access learning.

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential, as the role involves travelling to support pupils across Sheffield and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher, tutor, Teaching Assistant or education professional who enjoys working on an individual basis and can adapt their approach to meet the needs of each pupil.

The pupils you will be supporting may have SEN, SEMH needs, autism, communication difficulties, behavioural challenges or a history of disengagement from education. Some pupils may be working towards GCSEs, while others may require support to re-engage with education and develop the skills and confidence needed for their next stage.

The successful candidate will be able to build positive relationships quickly and create a learning environment where pupils feel safe, supported and motivated to learn.

    About the Role

As a 1:1 SEN Tutor, you will work closely with KS3 and KS4 pupils, delivering personalised sessions based around their individual needs, abilities and educational targets.

    You will support pupils to:

Re-engage with education and develop a positive attitude towards learning
Work towards individual academic targets and, where appropriate, GCSE outcomes
    Develop confidence, independence and resilience
Improve literacy, numeracy and wider academic skills
Support access to the KS3 and KS4 curriculum
Prepare for GCSE examinations or other appropriate qualifications
Manage barriers that may prevent them from accessing education
Develop positive relationships with adults and their wider support network
Prepare for a successful return to school, college or their next stage of educationSessions will be tailored to each individual pupil, meaning you will need to be creative, flexible and patient in your approach.

    The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who has:

A full UK driving licence and access to their own vehicle - essential
Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly KS3 and/or KS4 pupils
Experience supporting pupils with SEN and/or SEMH needs
Strong knowledge of the secondary curriculum
Experience delivering 1:1 tuition, intervention or personalised educational support
Ideally, experience supporting pupils working towards GCSEs
    Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
A calm, patient and nurturing approach
Confidence managing challenging behaviour and barriers to learning
The ability to adapt lessons and resources to suit individual needs
A genuine passion for helping young people re-engage with educationPrevious experience within SEN schools, Alternative Provision, PRUs, tutoring, intervention programmes or specialist education settings would be highly desirable.

Why Work as a 1:1 SEN Tutor?

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with individual KS3 and KS4 pupils and make a genuine difference to their educational journey.

Rather than working with a large classroom, you will be able to focus on the individual needs, interests and strengths of each pupil. You will have the opportunity to build trust, raise aspirations and help pupils make progress both academically and personally.

For pupils who may have struggled within mainstream education, your support could be the key to helping them re-engage, rebuild their confidence and achieve their potential.

    What We Offer

£25-£35 per hour, depending on experience
    Full-time, term-time opportunities
    1:1 working with KS3 and KS4 pupils
The opportunity to develop your SEN and Alternative Provision experience
Ongoing support from your dedicated SEN Consultant
A rewarding role where you can make a direct impact on a young person's education

    How to Apply

If you are an experienced secondary teacher, tutor or education professional, hold a full UK driving licence, have access to your own vehicle and have a passion for supporting KS3 and KS4 pupils with additional needs, we would love to hear from you.
