How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Taylor Root is delighted to be partnering with a leading international law firm in its search for a Patent Litigation Associate (NQ-3 PQE) to join its highly regarded Intellectual Property practice in London.

    The Team

This is an excellent opportunity to join a top-tier patents practice that acts on complex, high-value disputes for many of the world's most innovative pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences and technology companies. The team advises on the full spectrum of patent disputes, appearing before the UK courts and the Unified Patent Court (UPC), as well as providing strategic advice on patent portfolios, licensing arrangements and regulatory matters.

    The Role

Working as part of a market-leading patents team, the successful candidate will advise on a broad range of contentious patent matters, with a particular focus on life sciences and pharmaceutical litigation. The practice is regularly instructed on disputes involving blockbuster products, supplementary protection certificates (SPCs), regulatory exclusivities and multi-jurisdictional enforcement strategies.

The team also has expertise in Standard Essential Patent (SEP) and FRAND disputes, acting on cutting-edge litigation and licensing matters for leading technology businesses. This provides a unique opportunity to gain exposure to some of the most significant and commercially important patent disputes across Europe.

The role offers high levels of responsibility from an early stage, direct client contacts and the opportunity to work alongside leading practitioners on complex cross-border matters.

    Requirements

Applications are welcomed from solicitors with between NQ and 3 years' post-qualification experience gained at a leading private practice or patent specialist firm.

A STEM degree or technical background would be advantageous, given the nature of the client base and work involved, although this is not a prerequisite.

This position offers outstanding training, career development and the opportunity to join a collaborative and ambitious team operating at the forefront of the patent litigation market.
