🚀 Product Designer | 12-Month FTC | 0→1 Design Opportunity | Up to £75,000 | 3 days onsite in Central London
I’m working with a business that is hiring its first dedicated Product Designer — a genuinely interesting opportunity for someone who wants to introduce human-centred design into an organisation and help shape how product design is done going forward.
This is a new role for the business, so you won’t be stepping into an established design team or simply maintaining an existing design system.
The initial 12-month FTC is about demonstrating the value of dedicated product design — showing what can be achieved through a structured, evidence-led approach and helping establish what the longer-term design function could look like.
It’s a very hands-on role, covering:
🔹 UX & interaction design
🔹 Customer discovery and research
🔹 Wireframing & prototyping
🔹 Designing new screens and experiences
🔹 Establishing design principles and best practice
🔹 Creating design guidelines / a design handbook
🔹 Usability & accessibility standards
🔹 Developing consistent UI and interaction patterns
🔹 Working closely with engineers and Product Managers
🔹 Supporting and training software engineers
🔹 Working across internal and third-party development teams
🔹 Presenting and defending design decisions to senior stakeholders
🔹 Supporting wider digital transformation initiatives
The key thing they're looking for?
Someone who can do the work, not just review it.
UX and product design capability is more important than being a world-class researcher. They want someone who can take an ambiguous problem, create a solution, prototype it, test it and — importantly — explain why they made the decisions they did.
You'll need to be comfortable using evidence, customer insight, testing and data to influence stakeholders rather than relying purely on opinion.
