How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Accounting Domain Intake Specialist

    Position: Accounting Domain Intake Specialist

    Type: Hourly Contract

    Compensation: $80–$120/hour

    Location: Remote

    About the Opportunity

Mercor is collaborating with leading AI labs to develop a series of accounting-focused engagements covering areas such as audit reasoning, financial reporting, tax, GAAP/IFRS analysis, and related accounting workstreams.

Before finalizing these engagements, Mercor is seeking experienced accounting professionals to provide insight into how accountants actually work in practice. This written intake will help map real-world workflows, decision-making processes, specialty areas, tools, and professional judgment that may not be captured in textbooks or public resources.

Your responses will directly contribute to shaping future accounting engagements and determining how specialized work is structured.

    Responsibilities

    • Complete an approximately 30-minute written intake focused on your accounting practice and professional experience.
    • Describe your day-to-day accounting workflows, responsibilities, and typical allocation of time.
    • Explain the accounting workflows and activities that are most central to your current or recent role.
    • Describe how experienced accountants divide and specialize within the accounting profession, including distinctions that may not be obvious from traditional textbook classifications.
    • Identify important decision points, tools, processes, and judgment calls involved in your work.
    • Share the less visible or “invisible” aspects of accounting work that outsiders and project designers may commonly overlook.
    • Provide detailed and specific responses based on real-world professional experience.
    • Help Mercor identify meaningful specialty areas and workflow distinctions for upcoming accounting engagements.

    • GAAP & IFRS Analysis
    • Technical Accounting
    • Internal Controls
    • Advisory & Accounting Consulting
    • Other specialized accounting and finance workstreams

    • Ability to provide detailed, specific written responses about professional workflows and accounting practices.
    • Strong understanding of the mechanics, processes, and decision-making involved in your area of accounting.
    • Strong written communication and attention to detail.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • CPA or equivalent professional accounting credential preferred.
    • Significant experience in a specialized accounting or finance function.
    • Experience working with GAAP, IFRS, financial reporting, audit, tax, controls, or technical accounting.
    • Ability to clearly explain complex accounting workflows and professional judgment.
    • Experience working in public accounting, corporate finance, Big Four/regional firms, or accounting advisory environments.

    Compensation

    • $80–$120 per hour
    • Rates may vary based on seniority, experience, and area of accounting specialization.
    • Typical accounting engagements on Mercor are compensated within this range.

    Why Participate

    • Your expertise will help shape the scope of upcoming accounting engagements.
    • Detailed responses may contribute to more relevant offer matches and priority routing for future opportunities.
    • Your practical experience will help AI research teams better understand how accounting work is performed in real professional environments.
    • Opportunity to contribute expertise without requiring a traditional long-term engagement.

    Application Process

    Interested accounting professionals will:

    1. Submit their resume or a brief summary of accounting experience.
    2. Complete a short intake covering their practice area, specialties, workflows, and professional credentials.
    3. Provide detailed written responses based on their real-world accounting experience.
    4. Selected participants may be considered for future accounting-focused engagements as they launch.

    Eligibility

This opportunity is particularly suited for practicing or recently practicing accountants with meaningful professional experience in accounting, audit, tax, financial reporting, corporate finance, advisory, or related fields.

A CPA or equivalent credential is preferred, but deep relevant domain experience may also qualify without the credential.
