How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role
    As a Recruitment Consultant, you'll manage an established desk across the West Midlands, building long-term relationships with both clients and candidates.
    You'll be responsible for:

    Managing the full 360 recruitment process
    Developing new business across the West Midlands
    Building and nurturing long-term client relationships
    Registering, interviewing and supporting high-quality candidates
    Arranging and attending face-to-face client meetings
    Matching the right people to the right opportunities
    Delivering an outstanding recruitment experience from start to finish
    This is a business that measures quality over quantity. Expectations include around candidate registrations, face-to-face client meetings, business development calls and maintaining an up-to-date contact pipeline.
    About You
    To succeed as a Recruitment Consultant, you'll already have agency recruitment experience and enjoy building genuine relationships rather than relying on hard selling.
    You'll ideally have:

    At least 12-18 months' recruitment experience
    A consultative, professional approach
    Excellent customer service and communication skills
    Confidence developing business and managing client relationships
    A proactive, organised approach to managing your desk
    The ability to build trust with both clients and candidates
    Sector experience isn't essential. What's more important is your attitude, your professionalism and your commitment to delivering an exceptional service.
