How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Advert - Face-to-Face A-Level Maths Tutor (Post-16)
    Location: Malton area (YO17), North Yorkshire
    Home-based / Education within the home

    Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and suitably experienced Face-to-Face Tutor to deliver 1:1 A-Level Maths tuition to a Post-16 learner in the Malton area of North Yorkshire.

    This is a rewarding opportunity to support a young person to complete their A-Level Maths qualification, rebuild academic confidence, and progress onto their preferred adult pathway. The learner benefits from structured, consistent 1:1 support delivered outside of a mainstream college setting.

    Key details of the placement

    Subject: A-Level Maths
    Hours: 15 hours per week (3 hours per day, Monday-Friday, afternoon sessions)
    Start date: 14 September 2026
    End date: 23 July 2027
    Staffing ratio: 1:1
    Setting: Primarily education within the home (or other agreed suitable venue)
    Primary need: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), with mild dyslexia and significant anxiety

    The Role

    As the Face-to-Face Tutor you will:

    Deliver high-quality, personalised 1:1 A-Level Maths tuition
    Carry out an initial assessment of the learner's current knowledge, understanding and secure syllabus content
    Break tasks into manageable steps and adapt teaching to support organisation, recording of work, spelling and writing speed
    Support the learner with mild dyslexia (phonological difficulties) and high levels of anxiety, particularly around changes to routine
    Prepare the learner thoroughly for A-Level examinations, including early identification and implementation of access arrangements (e.g. extra time, rest breaks, reader, scribe or assistive technology)
    Work in line with the learner's EHCP, professional reports and normal way of working
    Coordinate exam entries, access arrangements and delivery through a registered exam centre (using independent, DBS-checked invigilators)
    Build a calm, positive and professional working relationship that supports engagement and reduces anxiety
    Monitor progress, adapt strategies as needed, and liaise with the local authority, support teams and other professionals as required
    Demonstrate full acceptance of the learner's gender-neutral / non-binary presentation and use of they/them pronouns

    The Ideal Tutor Will:

    Be an experienced A-Level Maths teacher or tutor (strong subject knowledge essential)
    Have experience supporting learners with ASD, dyslexia, anxiety and/or SEMH needs
    Be patient, adaptable, calm and highly organised
    Possess strong communication skills and the ability to discuss topics professionally without escalating conflict
    Hold QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent relevant teaching/tutoring experience (desirable)
    Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
    Have the legal right to work in the UK
    Be comfortable working flexibly in a home-based setting and managing the practical aspects of exam access arrangements

    Pay

    £30 - £35 per hour (depending on experience and subject specialism)
