Workshop Operative

We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Workshop Production Operator to join a busy manufacturing environment. The role involves preparing steel components, supporting fabrication and welding processes, carrying out assembly and finishing work, and ensuring products meet quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare, measure, mark and cut steel components using workshop equipment.

* Support welders by preparing materials and components.

* Operate hand and power tools, machinery and fabrication equipment safely.

* Carry out component assembly, finishing, painting and protective coating tasks.

* Handle and move materials using appropriate lifting equipment.

* Inspect components and finished products for quality and accuracy.

* Complete production and quality records accurately.

* Record manufacturing information using PCs, tablets or production systems.

* Report equipment faults, shortages and safety concerns.

* Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.

* Work effectively with colleagues and supervisors to meet production targets.

Essential Skills

Reliable, hardworking and safety-conscious, with good attention to detail and the ability to work well as part of a team. Comfortable with manual work, following instructions and using basic hand tools. Basic numeracy and computer skills required.

Desirable Skills

Previous workshop, manufacturing or production experience is preferred. Experience with hand/power tools, machinery, assembly or fabrication is an advantage. Technical drawing, quality inspection, crane or forklift experience would be beneficial.
