How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you looking to build a career where you can genuinely make a difference to young people?

    A brand-new 3-bed residential children's home in Sale is looking for motivated and compassionate Residential Support Workers to join the team.

    You don't need previous childcare experience. You don't need an NVQ.

    What matters is that you are passionate about working with young people, willing to learn, and genuinely want to build a career within residential childcare.

    About the Role

    You will be supporting children and young people living in a specialist EBD environment, helping them feel safe, supported and able to develop.

    The home takes a trauma-informed approach, using approaches including:

    * Trauma-informed practice
    * Attachment theory
    * PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy)
    * NVR (Non-Violent Resistance) strategies
    * Positive and consistent behaviour support

    You will work as part of a close-knit team, building positive relationships with young people and helping them achieve their individual goals and outcomes

    Your Responsibilities
    * Providing day-to-day care, support and guidance to young people
    * Building trusting and positive relationships
    * Supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs
    * Helping young people develop independence and life skills
    * Supporting education, activities and positive experiences
    * Following individual care plans and risk assessments
    * Responding calmly and appropriately to challenging situations
    * Maintaining accurate records and completing relevant documentation
    * Promoting safeguarding and the wellbeing of young people
    * Working closely with colleagues, management and other professionals
    * Contributing to a safe, stable and nurturing home environment

    What We're Looking For

    This role is about attitude, motivation and potential.

    You do not need:

    * An NVQ/Level 3 qualification
    * Previous residential childcare experience
    * Previous experience working in children's services

    You do need:

    * A genuine desire to work with children and young people
    * The motivation to learn and develop
    * A patient, resilient and compassionate approach
    * The ability to remain calm under pressure
    * Good communication skills
    * A willingness to learn trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches
    * A full UK driving licence

    Whether you are completely new to care or already have experience supporting vulnerable people, if you're serious about building a long-term career in residential childcare, we'd like to hear from you.

    Training & Development

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to progress within the sector.

    You will receive a fully funded Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare, alongside ongoing training and development.

    You'll also benefit from supportive management and a strong Senior Leadership Team, with the opportunity to develop your skills and progress your career as the service grows.

    Working Pattern

    2 on, 4 off

    The shift pattern consists of:

    * 2 day shifts
    * 1 sleep-in during the working pattern

    Pay: £13.00-£14.50 per hour DOE
    Sleep-ins: Additional payment provided

    If you're looking for more than just a job and want to start building a genuine career in children's residential care, this could be an excellent opportunity to get your foot in the door.

    Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age
