How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Engineering Manager – Design & Analysis
Automotive | Powertrain | Design Engineering | Simulation
    Milton Keynes | Permanent
Ready to Take the Next Step in Your Engineering Career?
TXM Recruit is supporting an established engineering organisation in Milton Keynes with the appointment of an Engineering Manager – Design & Analysis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Lead Engineer, Principal Engineer or Technical Lead who is ready to progress into a broader engineering management position. You’ll combine technical leadership with responsibility for people, engineering processes and resource planning, while gaining greater exposure to the commercial and strategic aspects of the business.
Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, you’ll lead teams responsible for product design and engineering analysis across technologies including engines, electric motors, hybrid powertrains and electrical systems.
    The Role
As Engineering Manager – Design & Analysis, you’ll provide leadership across the complete product-development lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include:
    * Leading and developing teams of Design and Simulation Engineers.
    * Taking ownership of the Design and Analysis engineering process.
    * Overseeing engineering activity throughout the product lifecycle.
    * Coordinating engineering resources across multiple projects and programmes.
    * Working with Chief Engineers to develop robust technical solutions.
    * Supporting engineers through coaching, mentoring and development planning.
    * Ensuring programmes have access to the right engineering capabilities.
    * Leading technical projects where required.
    * Improving engineering processes, systems and ways of working.
    * Identifying opportunities to reduce cost, complexity and waste.
    * Supporting the Engineering Director with departmental priorities and resource planning.
    Technical and Commercial Development
This role offers the opportunity to broaden your influence beyond technical delivery. You’ll contribute to the organisation’s future products and technologies while developing your understanding of the commercial considerations behind engineering decisions. This will include:
    * Supporting the development of technology and product strategies.
    * Assessing the technical feasibility and cost-effectiveness of engineering solutions.
    * Providing technical input into RFQs and new business opportunities.
    * Supporting technical and commercial proposals.
    * Working with Business Development, customers and senior stakeholders.
    * Translating customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.
    * Understanding how technical decisions affect programme cost, delivery and commercial performance.
    * Developing business cases for engineering improvements and investment.
You do not need to be a commercial specialist, but you should be interested in developing this capability and understanding how engineering contributes to wider business success.
What We’re Looking For We’re looking for a technically credible engineer who has progressed beyond individual project delivery and gained experience leading people, technical teams or engineering workstreams.
    You should ideally have:
    * A degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
    * Strong product-development experience within the automotive industry.
    * A background in Design Engineering, Engineering Analysis or Simulation.
    * Experience leading, mentoring or coordinating engineers.
    * The confidence to make and influence important technical decisions.
    * Experience managing engineering projects, priorities and resources.
    * A good understanding of engineering processes and product-development lifecycles.
    * The ability to communicate effectively with customers and senior stakeholders.
    * An interest in the commercial aspects of engineering.
A relevant Master’s degree or PhD would be advantageous but is not essential.
    Who Could This Suit?
This opportunity could be particularly relevant if you are currently working as a:
Lead Engineer | Principal Engineer | Technical Lead | Design Team Lead | Simulation Team Lead | Design Engineering Manager | Analysis Manager | Chief Engineer
You may not currently hold an Engineering Manager title. What matters is that you have the technical credibility to lead experienced engineers, some previous responsibility for people or technical delivery, and the ambition to develop your leadership, strategic and commercial capabilities.
This is an opportunity to move beyond leading individual projects and take broader ownership of the people, processes and technical capability behind an important engineering function. If you’re ready to take that next step, we’d be keen to hear from you
