How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

SEND Teaching Assistants - St Helens

Primary | Secondary | College | Specialist SEND Settings | From £14 per hour

Do you have the patience, empathy and resilience to help a young person overcome barriers and achieve something they didn't think was possible?

Aspire People are working with a range of SEND schools, specialist provisions, resource bases and alternative settings across St Helens and the surrounding areas, and we're looking for dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to join them throughout the autumn term, with schools needing immediate starts.

With opportunities across primary, secondary and college settings, there are roles to suit different experience levels and interests.

No Two Days Are the Same
Depending on the setting, you could be supporting pupils with:

    Autism (ASC)
    ADHD
    SEMH
    MLD, SLD or PMLD
    Speech, language and communication needs
    Sensory or physical needs
    Complex and additional learning needs
Your day could involve 1:1 support, small-group activities, communication and sensory work, life skills, classroom learning or helping pupils develop independence and confidence.

Some settings may also involve personal care, depending on the needs of the pupils.

You'll work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and wider support teams to provide consistent, individualised support.

    Experience in SEND Isn't Essential
We're keen to hear from experienced SEND Teaching Assistants, but also candidates with backgrounds in:

    Care and support work
    Residential settings
    Youth work
    Childcare
    Education
Other roles supporting vulnerable children or young people
We're looking for people who are calm, patient, adaptable and genuinely passionate about helping young people thrive.

    What You Can Expect
    From £14 per hour
    St Helens and surrounding areas
    Primary, secondary and college opportunities
    Full-time and part-time roles
    Long-term and temp-to-perm positions
    Dedicated SEND education consultant
    Free SEND-specific CPD and training
Roles matched to your experience and availability
£100 Refer-a-Friend bonus for Teaching Assistants and £250 for Teachers*
    Make Your Next Role Count
SEND education can be challenging, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. Whether you're helping a pupil communicate, manage their emotions, engage with learning or take their next step towards independence, your support can have a lasting impact.

If you're ready for a rewarding SEND opportunity in St Helens, apply today to explore current roles.
