How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
    Location: Trafford Park, Manchester
    Hours: Monday–Friday | 7:00am–3:30pm | & Call-Out Rota
    Salary: Circa £50,000 - £52,000 per annum
Holiday: 25 Days + Bank Holidays
    The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to join an established manufacturing site based in Trafford Park, Manchester.
Working as part of an experienced engineering team within a busy manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of production plant and equipment, carrying out a mixture of planned, predictive and reactive maintenance.
This is a hands-on engineering position with a strong focus on plant reliability, fault finding and continuous improvement. You’ll work across both electrical and mechanical equipment, responding to breakdowns while ensuring planned maintenance is completed effectively to maximise plant availability.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Carry out planned, predictive and reactive maintenance across production plant and equipment.
    * Respond quickly and efficiently to breakdowns and unplanned plant stoppages.
    * Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
    * Carry out daily plant monitoring inspections and routine equipment checks.
    * Maintain and fault find on 3-phase motors, electrical control systems and associated PLC-controlled equipment.
    * Maintain and repair pneumatic systems, bearings, chains, belts, couplings and other mechanical drive components.
    * Work with compressed air systems, pneumatic equipment and steam raising plant.
    * Complete PPM/PdM tasks and accurately record maintenance activity using the Maximo system.
    * Analyse recurring plant and process faults, carrying out root cause analysis where appropriate.
    * Support continuous improvement projects to improve plant reliability, processes and the wider working environment.
    * Assist with maintenance planning, spare parts, materials and general engineering housekeeping.
    * Participate in the site call-out rota.
    * Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance.
    About You
The ideal candidate will be a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer or Technician with previous experience working within a food or similar manufacturing or operational environment.
    You should have:
    * A recognised engineering apprenticeship with a formal engineering qualification.
    * Previous experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance.
    * Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
    * Experience working with industrial 3-phase motors and control systems.
    * An understanding of PLC-controlled machinery and systems.
    * Good mechanical maintenance experience, including bearings, chains, belts and drive couplings.
    * Experience with pneumatic equipment and compressed air systems.
    * A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team.
    * Good computer literacy and the ability to accurately record maintenance activity.
    * A flexible and reliable approach, including willingness to participate in the late-week and call-out rota.
Previous experience within food, FMCG or drinks manufacturing would be particularly advantageous, although engineers from other fast-paced manufacturing environments will also be considered.
    The Environment
This is a busy operational manufacturing environment where plant reliability and engineering response times are critical to keeping production running effectively.
The position offers a varied mix of planned maintenance, reactive breakdowns, fault finding and improvement work, making it well suited to a multi-skilled engineer who enjoys being hands-on and working across a broad range of electrical and mechanical equipment.
If you're an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer looking for a Monday–Friday position with an established manufacturing business in Trafford Park, we'd be keen to hear from you
