We're looking for a Mechanical Design Manager to take responsibility for major MEP design packages on a significant London infrastructure project.
This role doesn't require someone with decades of management experience. The priority is finding a proactive Mechanical or MEP professional who understands detailed design, can take ownership of an HVAC package and has the confidence to drive it through approvals, technical assurance and ultimately completion.
The role
Working alongside the MEP Package Manager, you'll become the key design contact for allocated supply chain partners and take responsibility for getting your packages over the line.
You'll be involved in:
Managing Stage 5 MEP and HVAC design packages through to completion
Coordinating design reviews, approvals, certification and final sign-off
Managing MEP suppliers and their design deliverables
Resolving technical queries, scope gaps and design interface issues
Coordinating between suppliers, design teams, engineering and project delivery
Monitoring design progress, risks and technical compliance
Supporting the resolution of Stage 4 design queries and defects
Ensuring CDM requirements and design risks are properly managed
Working with commercial teams where design changes affect subcontract deliveryWhat we're looking for
You'll need a deep understanding of Mechanical Building Services and HVAC design, combined with the ability to coordinate people and keep technically complex packages moving.
Ideally, you'll bring:
MEP design management or strong detailed design experience
A Mechanical or HVAC background
Experience on major infrastructure or similarly complex projects
Experience managing suppliers and technical deliverables
Good knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Experience working within large-scale, assured design environments
A relevant White or Black CSCS Card, or the ability to obtain oneExperience with NEC contracts, AutoCAD, Navisworks, ProjectWise or specialist MEP software would be beneficial.
The opportunity
This is a chance to take genuine responsibility for complex MEP packages on a major London infrastructure programme, rather than simply overseeing design from the sidelines.
The role is based in West London, paying up to £650 per day Inside IR35 on an initial 6-month contract.
