How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    North West / Office & Site-Based
    £35,000 - £50,000 per annum (DOE)
    Full-Time | Permanent

Build Your Commercial Career with a Growing Construction Business

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to join a growing construction contractor and play a key role in supporting project delivery across a diverse portfolio of work.

We're open to speaking with candidates who already have Quantity Surveying experience and are looking for a new challenge, as well as ambitious junior QS professionals who are ready to develop into a fully independent commercial professional.

This role will offer exposure to both the commercial and operational aspects of project delivery, providing a fantastic platform for long-term career development.

    The Role

Working closely with the Contracts Manager and wider project team, you will be responsible for managing the commercial performance of projects from pre-start through to final account.

You'll gain valuable hands-on experience across procurement, subcontractor management, cost control, financial reporting, and project support, helping to ensure projects are delivered profitably and successfully.

For candidates earlier in their career, the goal is to develop you into a fully autonomous Quantity Surveyor capable of managing projects independently.

    Key Responsibilities

    Commercial Management

Manage project costs, budgets, valuations, variations, and final accounts
Monitor project profitability and identify commercial risks and opportunities
Support financial control throughout the project lifecycle
Produce accurate commercial reports and forecasts

    Procurement & Supply Chain Management

Obtain and negotiate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
Place orders and manage procurement activities
    Administer subcontractor accounts and payments
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships

    Cost Control & Project Support

    Track costs against project budgets
    Manage and agree variations
Support site teams and Contracts Managers with commercial decision-making
Ensure projects are delivered within budget and achieve commercial targets

    What We're Looking For

    Essential

Previous Quantity Surveying experience within construction, fit-out, refurbishment, or related sectors
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project finances
    Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
A proactive and professional approach to work

    Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone with an old-school work ethic who isn't afraid to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in.

    The successful candidate will be:

    Hard-working and reliable
    Commercially minded
    Hands-on and proactive
    Eager to learn and develop
Comfortable taking ownership of their workload
Able to work effectively both on site and in the office
The business places significant value on attitude, work ethic, and potential, and is willing to invest in the right individual regardless of whether they are already operating as a Quantity Surveyor or still progressing in their career.

    Career Development

This role offers genuine progression opportunities.

Whether you already have a few years of QS experience or are looking to take the next step in your commercial career, you'll receive support, responsibility, and exposure to develop into a well-rounded and independent commercial professional.

The target within the first 6-12 months is for the successful candidate to confidently manage projects with minimal supervision.

    Salary & Benefits

    ✅ £35,000 - £50,000 per annum DOE

    ✅ Genuine career progression opportunities

✅ Exposure to both commercial and operational project management

    ✅ Office and site-based working

✅ Supportive and experienced management team

✅ Opportunity to develop into a fully autonomous Quantity Surveyor

✅ Long-term career development within a growing business

    Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that values hard work, initiative, and ownership.

You'll gain exposure to all aspects of commercial management, work closely with experienced operational and commercial professionals, and have the opportunity to build a long-term career within a supportive and growing organisation.

If you're a motivated Quantity Surveyor looking for a role that offers responsibility, development, and progression, we'd love to hear from you.
