How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Teaching & Curriculum Lead

    Specialist School | North Derbyshire
    Permanent | Term Time
    January 2027 | £50,000–£55,000

    About the School

LTE Search are working with a specialist independent school in North Derbyshire supporting young people aged 11–18 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, often with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

The setting provides a structured and supportive environment focused on building positive relationships, removing barriers to learning and helping vulnerable young people re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

Part of a leading national specialist education organisation, the school is at an exciting stage of its development, having completed its pre-registration process and now building its curriculum and wider educational provision.

This creates a genuine opportunity to help shape the educational offer and influence the quality of teaching and learning from an early stage.

    The Role

The Teaching & Curriculum Lead will combine a teaching commitment with responsibility for developing curriculum, teaching and learning across the school.

Working closely with the leadership team, you will:

Deliver high-quality teaching and model excellent classroom practice
Help develop an engaging, ambitious and appropriately differentiated curriculum
Support colleagues with planning, teaching and assessment
Mentor and support trainee and developing teachers
Develop approaches that respond to individual pupil needs and starting points
Monitor pupil progress, attainment and engagement
Contribute to school improvement, quality assurance and inspection readiness
Share effective practice and help develop consistency across the teaching team The role offers the opportunity to work within smaller classes and a more holistic approach to teaching and learning, allowing greater focus on individual pupils and their progress.

    About You

We are looking for an experienced teacher and outstanding classroom practitioner with some experience of leadership and the ambition to broaden their influence.

    You will ideally have:

QTS and a relevant teaching qualification
    Strong secondary teaching experience
A proven record of high-quality classroom practice
Experience of, or a clear interest in developing, subject or curriculum leadership
Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment and effective teaching
The ability to model excellent practice and support colleagues
High expectations of pupils and their potential
A creative, flexible and solution-focused approach Experience of SEMH, SEND, alternative provision or specialist education would be advantageous, but is not essential.

We are particularly interested in teachers who want to bring their experience into a specialist environment, working with smaller classes and a more individualised approach to teaching and learning.

Science would be a particular advantage, although applications are welcomed from teachers across the core curriculum, particularly Maths and English.

A creative approach to teaching is highly valued, particularly for someone who enjoys finding different ways to engage young people who may have experienced significant barriers to education.

    The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to continue doing what you do best in the classroom while extending your influence across teaching and curriculum.

With smaller classes, individualised support and a strong focus on the wider development of each pupil, you will have the opportunity to develop a more responsive approach to teaching and see the impact of your practice more directly.

You will also support colleagues and trainee teachers, contribute to curriculum development and play an important role in shaping provision as the setting continues to grow.

For the right person, this represents a chance to take the next step in teaching and curriculum leadership while remaining close to pupils and classroom practice.

If you are an experienced teacher and outstanding classroom practitioner looking to broaden your influence, develop your curriculum leadership experience and make a meaningful difference within specialist education, we would be interested in hearing from you.

To find out more, please apply now or contact LTE Search for a confidential discussion about the opportunity.

Please Note: We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must have the existing right to work in the UK and be able to provide appropriate evidence of their eligibility to work.

The appointment will be subject to the appropriate recruitment and safeguarding checks
