How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Electrical Engineer

    Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager

    Based in: North West - (Field Based)

    Position overview:

    As the Electrical Engineer for the region, you will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager and support the Operations team with any electrical related activity, this could be troubleshooting, fault finding, maintenance, HV Switching operations, installations and project work ensuring that all work carried out meets IEE and British Standards.

    You will be expected to demonstrate the appropriate behaviours and commitment towards health and safety to ensure we maintain our first-class safety culture.

    Key responsibilities:

    Support the team who are made up of mechanically biased engineers

    Act as the electrical expert for the region with a hands-on approach

    Carry out testing, inspection and rectification works on electrical equipment across our fleet of engines and associated equipment

    Assemble, install, test, certify and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures

    Plan and carry out small projects in conjunction with the Operations Support team

    Install and maintain three phase and single-phase control circuits for motors, pumps and fans (VSD, P&IDs and Instrumentation)

    Carry out planned condition monitoring Thermography checks in line with our CMMS

    Modify electrical control panels and update drawings

    Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes of practice

    Trouble shoot a wide range of PLC’s where necessary

    Modify PLC software and various control systems

    HV switching, HV network management

    OT System rectification - (HV, LV, PLC, SCADA and communications systems) and collaboration between Digital team and Flex operations, ensuring compliance with Digital policies

    BESS - Understanding of BESS technologies.

    Control of contractors and key service providers.

    Monitor, adjust and identify faults as required

    Schedule and undertake periodic maintenance on all electrical equipment, components, and installations

    Ensure that all equipment is in good working order to prevent disruption of activities

    Recommend replacement for old or faulty electrical components or fittings to the management team

    Work in collaboration with the Mechanical & Operations team

    Manage PPM

    Support the company in increasing profitability by managing resources efficiently and making necessary recommendations

    Consider and produce designs for control systems or electrical installations that comply with 18th Electrical Regulations, UK good practice and ensure they are fit for purpose

    Able to identify continuous improvement ideas and on approval execute accordingly

    Able to work autonomously and as part of a team

    To be considered for the role you will have:

    Significant experience as an operational Electrical Engineer is essential

    City & Guilds 18th Edition Electrical qualification is required

    Prior experience of Control Systems and control panels including fault finding is a must

    Previous experience of managing small electrical based projects is essential

    VSD experience is a must

    Experience of reading and interpreting electrical schematics is essential

    Experience with HV, LV and ELV Circuits is required

    Energy and embedded power generation (Gas peaking plant and BESS) industry experience would be advantageous

    Previous experience of working with Thermography equipment and carrying out inspections is preferred

    Full driving licence, as operational sites are located throughout Great Britain

    Right to work in the UK is essential
