How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    JIB Approved Electrician

    St Edmunds

    We are seeking an experienced JIB Approved Electrician to join our team in Bury St Edmunds. As a JIB Approved Electrician, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, testing and fault-finding works across commercial, industrial and project environments. Working closely with site supervisors, project managers, engineers, clients and other trades, you will ensure all electrical works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with current regulations, drawings, specifications and company standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Carry out electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, testing and commissioning works to a high standard.

    Install, terminate and connect electrical equipment, containment systems, distribution boards, wiring systems and associated accessories.

    Work from electrical drawings, schematics, specifications and site instructions to complete works accurately and efficiently.

    Carry out fault diagnosis, rectification and planned or reactive maintenance tasks as required.

    Undertake inspection and testing duties in line with competency, authorisation and project requirements.

    Ensure all work complies with BS 7671, relevant British Standards, statutory requirements, site rules and company procedures.

    Complete work safely and promote a positive health and safety culture on site at all times.

    Carry out point-of-work risk assessments and follow RAMS, permits, isolations and safe systems of work.

    Maintain high standards of workmanship, housekeeping, professionalism and customer service.

    Coordinate effectively with supervisors, other trades, subcontractors, clients and the wider project team.

    Record progress, materials used, test results, defects and any site issues accurately and promptly.

    Support apprentices, improvers and less experienced operatives where required by providing guidance and setting high working standards.

    Skills, Experiences & Qualifications:

    JIB Approved Electrician status with a valid ECS Gold Card.

    Recognised electrical qualification, such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent competency-based qualification.

    Current BS 7671 Wiring Regulations qualification, including 18th Edition or the latest version in force.

    AM2, AM2S or recognised equivalent assessment, where applicable.

    Valid ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment.

    Proven experience working as an electrician within commercial, industrial, construction, infrastructure or critical engineering environments.

    Strong knowledge of electrical installation methods, containment, cabling, distribution systems, inspection, testing and fault finding.

    Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, specifications and schedules.

    Good understanding of safe isolation, permits, RAMS and site-based health and safety requirements.

    Reliable, professional and safety-conscious approach with strong attention to detail.

    Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a wider team.

    Full UK driving licence preferred, subject to role and project requirements.
