How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you passionate about supporting autistic young people and helping them feel understood, confident, and successful in education?

A welcoming school in Hatfield is seeking an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with pupils who have social, emotional, mental health and additional needs, including ASC.

This SEMH Teaching Assistant opportunity in Hatfield is particularly suited to someone who understands that every autistic young person is different and that effective support should be built around their individual communication style, sensory needs, emotional wellbeing, and learning profile.

    The Role

You will provide consistent support both inside and outside the classroom, helping pupils manage the demands of school while developing their independence, confidence, and engagement with learning.

    You will:

    * Provide personalised classroom support based around individual ASC and SEMH needs

    * Support pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, communication difficulties, and associated behavioural challenges

    * Help pupils understand and manage emotions using appropriate regulation strategies

    * Support sensory needs and help create a calm, predictable, and structured learning environment

    * Use clear communication and consistent routines to help pupils feel safe and secure

    * Support positive behaviour strategies and contribute to monitoring individual progress

    * Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, families, and wider professionals

    What We Are Looking For

The ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant in Hatfield will have:

    * Previous experience supporting autistic children or young people

    * Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or within a specialist education setting

    * An understanding of ASC and how autism can affect communication, sensory processing, behaviour, and emotional regulation

    * Strong observation and behaviour support skills

    * A patient, calm, consistent, and adaptable approach

    * Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

    * A genuine passion for helping young people with additional needs achieve their potential

Why Apply for the SEMH Teaching Assistant role in Hatfield

    * Full time permanent contract

    * Supportive and inclusive school environment

    * Opportunity to make a meaningful difference to autistic pupils

    * Potential for long term or permanent opportunities

If you have the experience, patience, and understanding needed to support autistic young people effectively, apply today and a member of the recruitment team will be in touch.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy
