How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

An exciting opportunity to develop into a key technical role

Emkay Plastics Ltd is looking for a practical, technically minded individual to join our team as a Technical Support Engineer, working closely with and supporting our Chief Technical Officer.

This is not simply an administrative support role.

We are looking for someone who enjoys understanding how things work, is comfortable with drawings, machinery and manufacturing processes, and wants the opportunity to develop their technical knowledge across a wide range of areas.

The successful candidate will work alongside our Chief Technical Officer, learning key processes and gradually taking responsibility for routine and intermediate technical activities. This will provide additional technical capability within the business while allowing our CTO to focus on complex projects, innovation and technical development.

    What will you be doing?

The role will be varied and will develop as your knowledge and experience grow.

You will assist with areas including:

Reviewing technical drawings and CAD files

Preparing job cards and supporting quotations for laser cutting and machining work

Understanding tolerances, materials and manufacturing requirements

Supporting production with technical queries and problem solving

Assisting with machinery troubleshooting and liaising with equipment suppliers

Supporting oven processes and learning critical production procedures

Providing technical support to our Sales Team and helping respond to customer enquiries

Assisting with quality-control processes and systems

Managing and maintaining equipment calibration records and schedules

Helping create and maintain production SOPs and technical documentation

Supporting ISO and accreditation requirements alongside the CTO and COO

Assisting with technical systems, software and internal projects

Supporting technical trials, development projects and new manufacturing processes

Helping maintain technical records and ensuring important knowledge and processes are properly documented

There may also be opportunities to become involved in areas such as sustainability projects, exhibitions, samples, website/intranet systems and other projects across the business.

We do not expect the successful candidate to already know how to do all of the above.

A significant part of this position will involve working alongside our CTO and developing the knowledge and skills required to take on more responsibility over time.

    Who are we looking for?

You may already have experience within engineering, manufacturing, CNC, CAD, technical production or a similar environment, or you may have a strong technical aptitude and be looking for an opportunity to develop.

We are particularly interested in someone who:

    * Has a practical and logical approach to problem solving

    * Is comfortable working with measurements, dimensions and technical information

    * Can understand, or has an interest in learning to understand, engineering drawings

    * Has good computer skills

    * Is organised and able to maintain accurate records

    * Is willing to learn new machinery, software and manufacturing processes

    * Has good attention to detail

    * Can communicate confidently with colleagues, customers and suppliers

    * Is happy working both independently and as part of a team

    * Is willing to ask questions and escalate issues when appropriate

    * Wants to develop their technical knowledge and responsibilities

Experience with CAD, CNC machining, laser cutting, engineering drawings, manufacturing or quality systems would be an advantage, but we are also interested in candidates with the right technical aptitude and willingness to learn.

    About Emkay Plastics

Emkay Plastics is a specialist supplier and converter of advanced composite materials, supporting customers operating at the cutting edge of engineering and innovation.

Our customers operate across demanding sectors including motorsport, aerospace and advanced engineering, where quality, accuracy and technical capability are essential.

This role offers an unusual opportunity to gain hands-on experience across many different areas of a specialist technical and manufacturing business.

    What we can offer

    * A varied role where no two days are necessarily the same

    * Direct training and development alongside our Chief Technical Officer

    * The opportunity to build specialist technical and manufacturing knowledge

    * Genuine opportunity to take on greater responsibility as your skills develop

    * Exposure to advanced materials, manufacturing processes and technically demanding customer projects

    * The opportunity to become an important technical resource within the business

    * A friendly, established team within a growing specialist company

If you are technically minded, enjoy solving problems and are looking for a role where you can learn, develop and make a genuine contribution to a specialist engineering business, we would like to hear from you
