Job Title: Buyer
Location: Pulborough, West Sussex
Working pattern: Full-time, permanent
TPA Recruit is supporting a long-established, family-owned global manufacturer in the search for a Buyer.
You will place and expedite orders for raw materials, assemblies and support services to keep production supplied. Working with Engineering, Planning, Sales and Manufacturing, you will manage selected suppliers, prevent shortages and balance inventory levels with delivery needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and distribute weekly expedite reports, obtain supplier responses and update the company ERP system.
* Analyse ERP exception messages and place purchase orders to achieve cost-effective, timely delivery.
* Prepare electronic order packs with drawings, bills of materials and Gerber files for custom parts.
* Manage selected suppliers, control inventory and maintain the timely flow of materials into production.
* Develop a strong working knowledge of assigned commodities, the supplier base and the company ERP system.
* Propose and implement process improvements while following ISO 9001, ISO 14001, health and safety, environmental and ethical trading requirements.
Experience Required
* CIPS Level 5 qualification.
* Strong IT skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* A thorough, organised approach with close attention to detail and a clear focus on completing priorities.
* Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to build trusted supplier and internal relationships.
* Strong analytical judgement and problem-solving skills, including the ability to isolate causes and recommend solutions.
* Composure and effectiveness when priorities change or information is delayed, conflicting or unclear.
* Willingness to work the hours needed to meet project deadlines and travel when necessary.
Desirable Experience
* Experience purchasing electronic or electro-mechanical parts.
* Advanced Microsoft analytical skills.
