How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Role overview

Virtua is looking to appoint aF Project Engineer to support the delivery of EV and ICP installation projects across the UK. The role sits within the Electrical department and has a strong focus on technical delivery, site auditing, subcontractor coordination, and early-stage project input including surveys, scope development, and design review support.

This is a new role created to support recently secured EV and ICP works and to help build out a growing department. It is well suited to either an experienced electrical project engineer or a strong electrical professional ready to step into a broader project delivery role, with clear progression into a future delivery management position.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Support projects from early-stage input through to commissioning and handover, including site surveys, scope development, design review support, and technical document review.

    * Take day-to-day ownership of technical delivery oversight on site, with particular emphasis on the electrical package.

    * Manage and monitor electrical and civils subcontractors to ensure works are completed on time, to the required regulations, and to a high standard.

    * Carry out technical audits to verify site quality, compliance, and delivery against agreed project requirements.

    * Work closely with the Project Manager from a technical perspective, supporting delivery, scope definition, programme progress, and selected tender activity where required.

    * Respond to technical queries, maintain project records, and keep subcontractor equipment registers accurate and up to date.

    * Attend site meetings and progress meetings, contributing clear technical input and helping to resolve delivery issues.

    * Support commissioning, O&M documentation, and handover across the electrical scope.

    * Assist with the creation of technical documentation including survey outputs, audit reports, technical inductions, toolbox talks, specifications, and handover documentation.

    * Act as a secondary NICEIC Qualified Supervisor under the direction of the Electrical Compliance Manager.

    * Maintain HERS accreditation as the HERS Qualified Supervisor and support the development of robust technical standards as the department grows.

    Candidate requirements

We are looking for someone with a strong electrical background and the credibility to operate confidently across technical delivery, subcontractor coordination, and site-based quality oversight. You should be autonomous, organised, and technically credible, with the ability to manage your own diary effectively while working under the guidance of the Head of Operations.

    Essential experience and qualifications

    * Strong electrical background with the technical grounding required to be suitable for an NICEIC Qualified Supervisor position.

    * Valid ECS Gold Card and a full UK driving licence.

    * Solid working knowledge of BS 7671 and relevant electrical installation standards.

    * Ability to interpret electrical designs, review drawings, and produce clear technical specifications.

    * Approximately five years of relevant experience in electrical installation, technical delivery, or project engineering.

    * Confident working with subcontractors and site teams to monitor quality, progress, and compliance.

    * Comfortable using Microsoft Office and maintaining accurate technical and project documentation.

    * Clear communicator with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and technical stakeholders.

    Desirable experience

    * Experience within EV infrastructure or closely related electrical installation environments.

    * Experience working alongside civils teams and wider ICP delivery teams.

    * HERS Qualified Supervisor status.

    * EV installation qualifications.

    Working pattern and travel

The role is hybrid remote, with a blend of home working, site attendance, client visits, and occasional visits to Virtua offices. UK-wide travel is required, so candidates should be comfortable managing a diary that includes regular site-based work alongside remote administration and project coordination
