How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Quantity Surveyor - Major Civils project!

    Location: North / West or Central London
    Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 + Package
    Employment: Permanent
    Sector: Major Civils / Water / Infrastructure
    Working Pattern: 5 days per week on site/office

    I'm recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a Tier 1 main contractor delivering major civil engineering projects across North West and Central London.

    This is a permanent opportunity with a strong pipeline of long-term infrastructure work. Ideally, you'll have a background in water, heavy civils or major infrastructure and be comfortable commercially managing projects and subcontract packages from procurement through to final account.

    Key Duties

    Commercial management of major civils projects and packages
    Subcontractor procurement, negotiation and appointment
    Managing subcontractor accounts, valuations and payments
    Preparing applications for payment
    Cost reporting, forecasting and CVRs
    Managing variations, change and compensation events
    Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
    Supporting NEC contract administration
    Working closely with project managers and operational teams
    Client and supply chain commercial meetings
    Managing project cash flow and financial performance
    Preparing, negotiating and agreeing final accounts
    Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team

    What We're Looking For

    Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure
    Strong water, heavy civils or major infrastructure experience preferred
    Good knowledge of NEC contracts
    Strong subcontract and commercial management experience
    Comfortable working 5 days per week on site/office in London
    Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline preferred

    Package

    £60,000 - £75,000 + package, with long-term secured work and opportunities to progress within a Tier 1 contractor.
