How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Primary School - Westminster

    Are you a calm, compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

    Are you looking for a rewarding full-time opportunity in a welcoming mainstream primary school in Westminster?

    Academics is delighted to be working in partnership with a friendly and supportive mainstream primary school in Westminster, who are looking to appoint a dedicated and experienced 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a pupil within their school.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and can provide consistent, nurturing 1:1 support throughout the school day.

    Role Details

    Location: Westminster
    Start Date: ASAP
    Duration: ASAP - July 2027
    Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only
    Pay: £95-£100 per day, dependent on experience
    Role: 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary-aged pupil with SEMH needs within a mainstream classroom.
    Support the pupil with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.
    Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
    Help the pupil access the curriculum and participate effectively in classroom activities.
    Work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to provide consistent support.
    Help create a calm, safe and positive learning environment for the pupil.The Ideal Candidate Will

    Have previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs.
    Ideally have experience working within a mainstream primary school.
    Be confident supporting children with challenging behaviour and emotional regulation.
    Have a calm, patient, nurturing and resilient approach.
    Have a genuine passion for supporting children and helping them reach their potential.This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream primary school in Westminster and make a genuine difference to the educational, social and emotional development of a pupil.
