How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HSEQ Lead Auditor
    £50,000 - £60,000 + Benefits
Hybrid / Derbyshire | UK Travel

Are you an experienced HSEQ Lead Auditor with a background in third-party management systems certification?

Are you looking for a senior technical position where you can combine audit delivery with technical review and certification decision-making?

We are working with an established UK Certification Body that is looking to appoint an experienced HSEQ Lead Auditor as part of its continued development.

This is a varied position combining client-facing third-party auditing with home and office-based technical work. You'll have the opportunity to broaden your competence and authorisations over time, so you do not need to arrive with every certification decision-making authorisation already in place.

    What you will be doing

As HSEQ Lead Auditor, you will:

Lead and conduct third-party certification audits against ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Deliver single-standard, integrated and multi-site management system audits across a varied client base.
Undertake audit report reviews and technical reviews, ensuring audit quality, consistency and compliance with certification requirements.
Progress into, or continue undertaking, certification decision-making activities following appropriate evaluation and authorisation.
Support application and enquiry reviews, certification scope definition, audit programme development and audit-duration determination.
Provide technical input into the allocation and competence of auditing resources.
Support UKAS office and witnessed assessments, including preparation of evidence and responses to findings.
Contribute to the ongoing competence assessment and development of auditors, reviewers and certification decision makers.
Support the Certification Body's wider governance, impartiality and continual improvement activities.
Build strong professional relationships with clients while maintaining the independence and impartiality required within third-party certification. The position will involve regular travel to client sites throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays, alongside home and office-based technical work.

    What you will need

We are looking for someone with:

Demonstrable experience as a third-party management systems Lead Auditor.
    A recognised Lead Auditor qualification.
Strong auditing competence across ISO 9001 and at least one of ISO 14001 or ISO 45001.
Experience working within, or closely with, an accredited Certification Body.
Exposure to UKAS or equivalent accreditation assessments.
A technical, engineering, HSEQ or similar industry background.
Strong written communication and report-writing skills.
A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel nationally. The business is open to an experienced Lead Auditor who has the competence to achieve additional authorisations following appointment.

Experience auditing within rail, engineering, infrastructure or another safety-critical sector would also be highly advantageous.

    What's on offer?

Salary of £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience, qualifications and competence.
25 days annual leave plus 8 public holidays.
    5% matched pension contribution.
Life assurance at 4 x annual salary.
    Employee Assistance Programme.
Enhanced company sick pay following the qualifying period.
    Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
Business mileage paid at 55p per mile.
    Travel and subsistence expenses covered.
Opportunity to develop additional technical review and certification decision-making authorisations. This is a particularly good opportunity for an experienced third-party HSEQ auditor who wants to move into a broader senior technical position without moving away from hands-on auditing altogether.
