How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

SEN TEACHING ASSISTANTS – OXFORD 🌟

    KS2–KS5 | Specialist SEMH setting | Full-time & part-time opportunities

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with SEN experience looking for a role where your ability to build relationships, understand behaviour and support young people really matters?

We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity at a specialist school in Oxford, supporting young people across KS2, KS3, KS4 and Post-16.

This is an excellent opportunity for TAs who have experience supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, behavioural needs and additional learning difficulties.

💜 A SCHOOL BUILT AROUND THE INDIVIDUAL
This is a specialist environment where young people are recognised as unique individuals, with their individual needs placed at the heart of the curriculum. The school's approach is centred around creating a safe, nurturing environment where pupils are supported to understand themselves, regulate their emotions, make positive choices and develop the confidence they need for life beyond school.

The school places particular importance on:
🌟 Empathy, acceptance and mutual respect
    🌟 Building positive relationships
🌟 Helping young people regulate frustration
    🌟 Restorative approaches to behaviour
    🌟 Developing confidence and self-belief
    🌟 Preparing pupils for adulthood

The school's ethos is summed up by its focus on helping pupils develop an “I can” / “I can’t… yet” mindset.
👩‍🏫 KS2 – KS5 OPPORTUNITIESThe school provides specialist education for young people aged approximately 10–18, with provision spanning Year 6 through Post-16.

This means we are particularly interested in TAs who would enjoy working with:
    KS2
Supporting pupils making the transition into specialist secondary education.
    KS3
Helping young people develop confidence, emotional regulation, social skills and positive attitudes towards learning.
    KS4
Supporting pupils through their GCSE-level education while helping them develop the skills needed for their next steps.
    KS5 / POST-16
Helping young people prepare for adulthood, independence, employment and life beyond school.

    🧠 SEN EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL
The school specialises in Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), with pupils potentially presenting with additional needs including:
    ✔️ Autism / ASC
    ✔️ ADHD
    ✔️ SEMH
    ✔️ Conduct Disorder
    ✔️ ODD
    ✔️ Speech and language difficulties
    ✔️ Moderate learning difficulties
    ✔️ Behavioural and emotional needs

All pupils have an EHCP and the school uses a personalised approach to ensure pupils are supported, valued and challenged.
We're therefore particularly keen to speak with TAs who understand that behaviour is communication and who can remain calm, consistent and relational when pupils are experiencing difficulties.

❤️ THIS COULD SUIT YOU IF...You are a TA who:
✔️ Has experience working with SEN pupils
✔️ Has supported children or young people with SEMH
✔️ Has experience with ASD and/or ADHD
✔️ Is confident managing challenging behaviour
✔️ Can build strong, trusting relationships
✔️ Is patient, resilient and emotionally intelligent
✔️ Understands the importance of consistency and boundaries
✔️ Wants to help young people develop confidence and independence

You may have worked in a specialist school, PRU, AP setting, mainstream secondary school or college — if you have the right SEN experience, we'd like to hear from you.

    🚆 ACCESSIBLE FROM ACROSS OXFORDSHIRE
The school is based in Blackbird Leys, Oxford, and there are a number of established public-transport routes into the area.

The school is part of The Gallery Trust, a specialist multi-academy trust focused on education for children and young people with SEND.

If you're looking to build serious experience within SEMH and specialist education, this could be an excellent next step.
