You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a varied range of heavy commercial vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standard. This role would suit a qualified technician who takes pride in their workmanship and enjoys working as part of a skilled and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles
Complete scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance in line with DVSA requirements
Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment
Repair and replace components including brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions and electrical systems
Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure they meet all required roadworthiness standards
Attend vehicle breakdowns when required
Accurately complete job cards, inspection sheets and compliance documentation
Identify additional defects and report any required repairs
Ensure work is completed efficiently while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards
Keep tools, equipment and the workshop clean, organised and properly maintained
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or Heavy Vehicle Technician
A recognised Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent experience
Strong mechanical, electrical and diagnostic skills
Good knowledge of DVSA inspection and maintenance requirements
The ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team
A reliable, organised and safety-focused approach
A full UK driving licence
An HGV licence would be advantageous but is not essential
