How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you a qualified Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineer looking for excellent earning potential, structured work and the security of working directly for an established energy supplier?

At Utilita, we're growing our award-winning Field Services team. Join one of the UK's fastest-growing energy suppliers and a business that has been recognised as one of the UK's Top 50 Best Workplaces for four consecutive years.

What is in it for you?

You'll receive a base salary of £38,993, alongside uncapped earning potential and a variety of opportunities to boost your overall earnings, including:
On-call payment: Receive £330 for each on-call week, based on an average rota of one week in five. (OTE of £42,293 just with the base salary and conducting mandatory on call requirements)
Industry-leading installation bonus: Benefit from an uncapped installation bonus of £25 per meter or £50 per dual installation once you have completed a minimum of four installations in a day, with additional work opportunities available to further enhance your earnings.
London weighting: Receive an additional £2,000 annual allowance if you live within the M25.
Enhanced overtime: Enhanced overtime rates for Sunday working. Alongside your salary and uncapped earning potential, you will receive 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, a healthcare scheme, mental wellbeing support, access to 24/7 GP and counselling services, and a generous pension scheme. You will also receive one paid volunteering day each year and have opportunities to win tickets to events at Utilita-sponsored arenas and football matches.

    Why work at Utilita?

A schedule that supports your work-life balance.

We understand that a great Smart Meter Engineer role is not just about salary. It is also about having a structured working day and being able to plan your life accordingly.

You will be scheduled an average of 4 jobs per day, with an average travel time to jobs of approximately 35 minutes between appointments.

We aim to schedule your work several weeks in advance, giving you greater visibility of your schedule. This helps you plan life outside work while still giving you the opportunity to take on additional work when it suits you.

    First-class training and support.

Your journey will begin at our award-winning training academy in Warrington, where you will receive a comprehensive induction.

You will then receive ongoing mentoring to help you strengthen your knowledge, understand our processes and confidently adapt to the Utilita way of working.

A team that keeps you connected.

We understand that working in the field can sometimes feel isolating, which is why creating a connected and supportive environment is so important to us.

Through regular manager check-ins, access to technical experts, collaborative colleague networks and ongoing communication, you'll always have the support you need and someone to turn to throughout your working day.

    What you will be doing.

As a Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineer, you will represent Utilita in customers' homes, installing smart meters safely and professionally across domestic properties.

You will play an important role in delivering our customer-first approach, providing a positive experience while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and service.

    What we need from you.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need:
Smart Metering qualifications, including CCN1 or CMA1 and MET1, or equivalent.
At least 12 months experience working as a Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineer.
