How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We’re looking for an organised and detail-focused Accounts Administrator to join a busy and friendly accounts team in Bury St Edmunds.

You’ll play an important part in ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and on time, while supporting the wider accounts team with day-to-day administration and month-end activities.

    The Role

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Processing high-volume purchase ledger invoices, including manual and EDI invoices.

    * Checking invoices for accuracy and resolving any discrepancies promptly.

    * Supporting the processing of supplier payments and ensuring records are kept up to date.

    * Assisting with sales ledger and credit control activities when required.

    * Making outbound calls to customers regarding outstanding payments.

    * Allocating customer payments and assisting with unallocated cash.

    * Dealing with customer and supplier queries in a professional and timely manner.

    * Preparing, sending and maintaining accurate invoice records.

    * Reviewing and reconciling accounts to ensure accuracy.

    * Maintaining accurate records of invoices, receipts and financial transactions.

    * Updating accounting systems, spreadsheets and internal databases.

    * Managing Proof of Delivery (POD) requests from customers and suppliers.

    * Maintaining monthly rebate records and supporting reconciliations.

    * Assisting with bank deposits and ensuring transactions are accurately recorded.

    * Supporting month-end procedures and financial reporting.

    * Providing holiday and absence cover across the wider accounts team.

    * Liaising with other departments and teams to resolve queries and keep processes running smoothly.

    * Identifying discrepancies and taking the necessary action to resolve them.

    * Supporting continuous improvements to accounts administration processes.

    * Carrying out other accounts and administrative duties as required.

    About You

We’re looking for someone with previous experience within an accounts or finance environment, ideally with exposure to purchase ledger, sales ledger and/or credit control.

    You’ll ideally have:

    * Previous experience in an accounts or finance administration role.

    * Experience working in a busy, high-volume transactional environment.

    * Good knowledge of purchase ledger and/or sales ledger processes.

    * Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

    * Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

    * Good written and verbal communication skills, confident telephone manner. Good customer service skills and the ability to build positive relationships.

    * Competent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word.

    * The ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

    * The ability to work independently as well as being a supportive team player.

    * A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.

    What's on Offer?

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Accounts Administrator looking for a varied role with plenty of exposure across the wider accounts function.

You’ll receive training and support and, once established in the role, there is the opportunity to develop your skills and progress within the accounts team, gaining experience across different areas of finance and administration.

If you’re organised, reliable and looking for your next opportunity within accounts, we’d love to hear from you
