How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Working closely alongside an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play an important role in supporting the commercial management of a range of refurbishment and structural alteration projects, with values typically ranging from £250,000 to £6 million.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant QS looking to develop their commercial skills and progress their career, with the support and guidance of a Senior QS.

    The Role

    Working alongside the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will gain exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of projects, including:

    * Assisting with project budgets and cost control

    * Procurement and tendering of subcontract packages

    * Preparing and analysing subcontractor quotations

    * Managing subcontractor accounts and payments

    * Preparing valuations and variations

    * Monitoring project costs against budgets

    * Assisting with cost reporting and forecasting

    * Supporting the preparation and agreement of final accounts

    * Maintaining accurate commercial records

    * Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers

    * Working closely with the Senior QS and wider project team to ensure projects are delivered successfully

    They are looking for someone who is commercially minded, organised and keen to develop within a construction environment.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    * Experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor

    * A good understanding of construction and commercial processes

    * Strong numerical and analytical skills

    * Excellent attention to detail

    * Good communication and negotiation skills

    * The ability to work as part of a team

    * A genuine desire to develop and progress their career

    There is scope for the right individual to take on increasing responsibility and progress within the commercial team as their experience develops.

    Salary: Up to £55,000 for the right individual, depending on experience

    If you are an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking for the next step in your career, or a QS looking for an opportunity with a well-established Central London contractor, we would be keen to hear from you
