We are working with a market leading building contractor whose head office is based in the North West of England.
From here they work nationally and secure work through a combination of procurement frameworks on which they have a great degree of success and a good proportion of their workload comes from negotiation with pre-existing clients.
Their profit margins are 3-4 times the industry norm, are cash-rich and have secured the majority of next years’ turnover already so are in a great place.

The Role:
They now have a new opportunity for someone to join their team at Commercial Manager level due to growth.
Managing a small team of 4/5 Quantity Surveyors, you will have commercial responsibility for between 2 and 4 projects.
You will work closely and collaboratively with their clients from preconstruction through to handover, provide support and guidance to your QSs.
They are open to recruiting someone currently working at Senior QS or Managing QS level looking for a step up in to a managerial role or someone who is already an established Commercial Manager.
Key responsibilities will include the following;
Work closely with clients through all stages of the construction process.
Managing the team to ensure all commercial and contractual requirements are considered on the designated projects in accordance with the company procedures and processes, ensuring sound financial performance.
Input into Cost Planning and other early-stage cost advice.
Oversee monthly cost reports.
Advise on the appointment of subcontractors in accordance with Company Procedures.
Work closely with the Commercial Director, other Commercial Managers and Managing QSs to ensure sound commercial performance and best practice.
Liaise with Preconstruction, Operations and Technical teams to review and monitor project costs and performance.
You:
You will have worked as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager working on significant £Multi Million building projects previously.
You will be based in or be able to commute to the North West daily.
You will be contractually aware and comfortable in a client facing role.
