How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Principal Vehicle Charging Systems Engineer

    Permanent | Birmingham | Hybrid Working | No Visa Sponsorship

    Our client is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer Charging to join its automotive engineering team on a permanent basis. This senior role will lead the development of charging features for next-generation battery-inverter technology, supporting innovative solutions across the electric mobility sector.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Lead the development of charging features using Model-Based Systems Engineering practices
    Decompose and analyse stakeholder requirements into detailed technical requirements for hardware and software teams
    Provide technical expertise in AC and DC electric vehicle charging, including vehicle-to-grid functionality
    Work closely with systems, hardware, software and test engineers to deliver integrated features
    Contribute to system engineering interfaces with hardware and software design teams
    Perform system and design-level FMEA activities, including S-FMEA and D-FMEA
    Build SysML models and diagrams using the Enterprise Architect toolchain
    Support compliance with environmental, health and safety, quality and engineering standards

    Job Requirements:

    Degree-level qualification in engineering, mathematics, physics or another relevant technical discipline
    Significant experience in systems engineering within the automotive, engineering or electrification sector
    Technical experience in high-voltage charging systems and electric vehicle charging points
    Strong understanding of power electronics, including DC-DC conversion
    Knowledge of AC and DC charging architectures and vehicle-to-grid technology
    Experience with MBSE modelling and the transition of system models into hardware and software development
    Proficiency with SysML and Enterprise Architect, or a similar systems engineering toolchain
    Understanding of system-level FMEA, requirements analysis and cross-functional technical delivery
