How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Teaching Assistant (SEN Support)Primary Schools Merton Long-Term & Flexible Supply September 2026 Starts Local Opportunities

    Are you passionate about supporting children and helping them thrive in a primary school environment?

    We are looking for caring, patient and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support primary-aged pupils across Merton and the surrounding South West London area.

    These opportunities are ideal for experienced SEN professionals, recent graduates, or individuals looking to begin a rewarding career in SEND, with a range of long-term, flexible and ongoing opportunities available from September 2026.

    The RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will provide personalised support to an individual pupil or within the wider classroom, helping children to access the curriculum, develop independence, build confidence and enjoy a positive experience of school.

    You may be supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, social and emotional needs, or other learning and developmental differences.

    Key Responsibilities
    Providing dedicated 1:1 or small-group support throughout the school day
    Helping pupils access lessons, activities and the wider school environment
    Supporting communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
    Encouraging independence, confidence and social development
    Supporting pupils through transitions and changes in routine
    Adapting activities and approaches to meet individual needs
    Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, therapists and families
    Supporting pupils to engage positively with their peers and the wider school community
    Providing personal care support where required
    Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thriveThe Ideal CandidateWe’re looking for someone who is patient, compassionate, reliable and adaptable, with a genuine passion for helping children thrive in a mainstream primary setting.

    Previous experience in SEND, education, care, youth work, psychology or a similar environment is desirable, but experience is not essential for every role.

    Most importantly, you’ll have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and a commitment to making a meaningful difference to a child’s education and development.
