The Role
You’ll play a key part in coordinating the design process, ensuring information is delivered accurately, on time and in a format that works for the construction team.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Coordinating design information across live and pre-construction projects
* Managing architects, consultants and specialist subcontractor design
* Identifying design gaps, risks and buildability issues
* Chairing and attending Design Team Meetings
* Managing design programmes and information release schedules
* Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information
* Supporting value engineering and practical buildability solutions
* Coordinating consultant appointments, scopes and responsibility matrices
* Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, Commercial teams and clients
* Ensuring the design supports safe, efficient and profitable project delivery
Who Are We Looking For?
This role would be particularly suitable for someone already working as a Design Coordinator or Assistant Design Manager who is looking to take the next step in their career.
Alternatively, it could be an excellent opportunity for an Architectural Assistant – Part 2, or someone from an architectural background, who is considering a change in career path and would like to move into contractor-side Design Management.
You should have:
* Experience within construction or architectural design
* A good understanding of the design and construction process
* Strong coordination and communication skills
* The confidence to work with consultants, subcontractors and project teams
* A practical, solutions-focused approach to design
You don’t need to be the finished article. What’s more important is a strong technical grounding, good communication skills and the ambition to develop into a fully-fledged Design Manager.
