How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future

    Solutions Architect Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C

    As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the CWA Wide Section.

    What will you do?

    The CWA is seeking an experienced Enterprise Solution Architect to join the Enterprise Architecture function and develop, document and assure technology solutions across the Civil Works Alliance. This role focuses primarily on application and technology architecture, working closely with the Enterprise Architect Lead, IT, Digital, PMO, Data, Cyber ​​Security, infrastructure teams, suppliers and business stakeholders.

    The successful candidate will translate business, functional, non-functional, application, technology and integration requirements into practical solution designs whilst maintaining traceability between requirements, architecture elements, solution decisions and implementation activity. A strong understanding of Microsoft Azure cloud architecture is essential, with the ability to assess and model Azure-based solutions across applications, infrastructure, integration, identity, security, networking, storage and data platforms.

    What You Will Do

    • Develop and ensure solution designs across application and technology domains
    • Translate business, functional, non-functional, application, technology, integration and implementation requirements into solution architecture outputs
    • Support requirements capture, structuring, validation and traceability
    • Maintain traceability between requirements, applications, technology components, integrations, solution decisions, work packages and implementation milestones
    • Develop Application Layer views covering components, services, functions, interfaces, integrations, dependencies and lifecycle information
    • Develop Technology Layer views covering platforms, infrastructure, cloud services, networks, hosting environments, system software and technology dependencies
    • Develop and assess Microsoft Azure architecture views, including applications, infrastructure, identity, security, networking, storage, integration and data services
    • Develop solution-level implementation and migration views, including dependencies, sequencing, transition considerations and constraints
    • Assess solutions against architecture principles, technology standards, requirements, integration patterns, security requirements and delivery constraints
    • Undertake application, technology and integration impact assessments
    • Identify and document risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, constraints and requirement gaps
    • Support the design of APIs, interfaces, middleware, authentication and system-to-system integrations
    • Consider non-functional requirements including performance, availability, scalability, resilience, security, maintainability and supportability
    • Work with IT, Digital, Cyber ​​Security, Data, infrastructure teams, application owners and to ensure solutions are feasible, secure, supportable and aligned with delivery requirements
    • Prepare high-level solution designs, architecture diagrams, option assessments, impact assessments, decision records and design review materials
    • Create and maintain architecture models using ArchiMate 3.2, UML and BPMN suppliers as appropriate
    • Use Sparx Enterprise Architect to manage architecture models, requirements and solution artifacts and Prolaborate to publish and review architecture content.

    • Support model exchange using XML and Maintain accurate and controlled architecture and requirements repository content
    • Contribute to the improvement of CWA architecture standards, modeling practices, governance and requirements traceability

    What are we looking for?

    XML and XMI model exchange files where required.

    Construction technology solution views where relevant.

    The role requires strong solution architecture, application architecture, technology architecture, cloud architecture, integration and requirements engineering skills.

    Essential

    Relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent practical experience in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, information systems, computer science, systems engineering, engineering or a related discipline.

    Experience working as a Solution Architect, Enterprise Solution Architect, Technical Architect, Application Architect, Technology Architect or similar.

    Strong understanding of application and technology architecture.

    Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure cloud architecture, including infrastructure, platform services, identity, security, networking, storage, integration and data services.

    Ability to assess Azure-based solution architectures and their implications for applications, technology, integration, data, security and implementation.

    Understanding of cloud service and deployment models, including SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and hybrid architectures.

    Good understanding of requirements engineering and requirements traceability.

    Ability to translate functional and non-functional requirements into practical solution designs.

    Strong understanding of integration architecture, including APIs, interfaces, middleware, authentication and interoperability.

    Understanding of non-functional requirements, including performance, availability, scalability, resilience, security, maintainability and supportability.

    Experience preparing solution architecture documents, high-level designs, impact assessments, decision records and design review materials.

    Working knowledge of enterprise architecture principles and TOGAF or an equivalent architecture method.

    Working knowledge of ArchiMate 3.2, UML and BPMN.

    Experience using Sparx Enterprise Architect.

    Experience using Prolaborate or a similar architecture collaboration platform.

    Ability to work with XML and XMI where required.

    Ability to identify and communicate solution risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, constraints and trade-offs.

    Strong stakeholder engagement, analytical and communication skills.

    Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams, suppliers and delivery organisations.
