How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mechanical Design Engineer
    Salary: £35k-£45k (depending on experience)
    Location: Cambridgeshire

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established and innovative product development business. The company designs and manufactures high-quality, technically complex electro-mechanical products, taking projects from initial concept and development through to production.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for an Engineer looking to develop their career within a hands-on engineering environment. You'll work closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, gaining exposure to the full product development lifecycle while developing your ability to take ownership of mechanical design projects.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Develop designs from initial concept through to prototype, manufacture and production

    * Produce 3D CAD models, assemblies and detailed engineering drawings

    * Build and assemble prototypes

    * Prepare manufacturing documentation, assembly instructions and technical drawings

    * Work closely with production teams to identify and resolve mechanical issues

    * Investigate new materials, manufacturing processes and finishing techniques

    Skills & Experience Required:

    * Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or a related discipline

    * 3D CAD design skills – Solidworks

    * Understand mechanical manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances and finishing techniques

    * Hands-on experience with prototyping or workshop-based activities

    * Experience developing consumer, scientific or electro-mechanical products
