How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Composite Materials Technician

    Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (depending on skills and abilities) + 10% shift premium

    Permanent role

    Location: Wrexham

    Working hours:  Rotating Shifts (Days and afternoons)

    The Role:

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Composite Materials Technicianto join a growing and highly respected organisation operating at the forefront of advanced materials technology.

    Working within a specialist Materials & Testing Laboratory, you will play a key role in generating critical product test data that supports customer qualifications, product development, quality improvement, and technical problem-solving activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career within a technically advanced environment, with full training available for the right candidate.

    Key Responsibilities

    Demonstrate and promote a strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.
    Manufacture composite and adhesive test panels.
    Carry out machining and preparation of test specimens.
    Conduct destructive mechanical testing on a variety of composite and adhesive materials.
    Work to recognised industry, international, and customer testing standards.
    Maintain accurate laboratory records and project documentation.
    Support internal teams, customers, and suppliers through collaborative working.
    Ensure excellent housekeeping and organisation within the laboratory.
    About You

    Essential Requirements

    GCSEs/O-Levels or A Levels, ideally within a relevant technical or scientific subject.
    Ability to understand and interpret technical documentation and specifications.
    Competent user of Microsoft Word and Excel.
    Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately.
    Experience working within a team environment.
    Desirable Skills & Experience

    HNC/HND qualification in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
    Experience operating machining equipment.
    Experience of composite manufacturing or materials testing.
    Familiarity with universal testing machines such as MTS, Instron, or Zwick systems.
    Knowledge of composite materials and associated manufacturing processes.
    Experience using laboratory management systems (LIMS).
    Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering, technical, or industrial environment.
