Our client, an innovative organisation in the aerospace sector, is seeking a UAV/Senior UAV Technician to join its Airframe Manufacturing and Assembly Team on a permanent basis. The role will focus on the production of airframe components, installation of systems and avionics, and commissioning support for unmanned aerial vehicles. Based within a structured engineering and assembly environment, the position will also provide opportunities to support post-production flight operations across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
Assembling airframe components, sub-assemblies and fuel systems using build packs and engineering specifications
Testing and qualifying sub-systems in accordance with standard operating procedures
Installing avionics systems onto aircraft and supporting aircraft-level acceptance testing
Providing on-site assistance during the installation and flight testing of new systems within the UK
Recording completed work and maintaining accurate digital aircraft build logs
Providing feedback to the Manufacturing and Engineering Teams on assembly processes and potential improvements
Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workshop environment, including the management of consumable stock
Working in accordance with health and safety requirements, company procedures and agreed operational standards
Job Requirements:
Hands-on experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
Technically capable, with strong logical reasoning and problem-solving skills
Ability to interpret and provide feedback on engineering drawings and manufacturing packs
Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and general workshop practices
Experience of light machining within a workshop environment
Ability to adapt, learn new skills and move effectively between manufacturing tasks
Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a production team
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer systems
Desirable Skills:
Previous experience within the aerospace, UAV or wider engineering industry
Experience using MCAD and ECAD tools
Knowledge of UAV systems, aircraft assembly or flight operations
Understanding of avionics installation and system testing
Additional Requirements:
Right to work in the UK
Ability to obtain BPSS security clearance during the probationary period
Willingness to undertake a combination of bench-based, standing and on-site work
Commitment to ongoing professional development and relevant industry requirements
