How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Design Engineer - Housebuilder

    Are you an experienced Design Engineer looking to join a successful and growing housebuilder?

    We are recruiting for a Design Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of high-quality residential developments. Working as part of an established technical team, you will be responsible for managing engineering design from land acquisition through to construction, ensuring developments are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively and to the highest standards.

    The Role

    Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your responsibilities will include:

    Coordinating and managing civil and structural engineering consultants

    Reviewing and approving engineering designs for residential developments

    Assisting with site appraisals, feasibility studies and technical due diligence

    Designing and coordinating roads, sewers, drainage and infrastructure solutions

    Managing utility enquiries and service diversions

    Liaising with local authorities, statutory undertakers and adoption bodies

    Ensuring designs comply with planning conditions, building regulations and industry standards

    Supporting the land, technical and construction teams throughout the development process

    Identifying value engineering opportunities and cost-effective solutions

    About You

    Previous experience as a Design Engineer, Civil Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer within the housebuilding or residential development sector

    Strong understanding of residential infrastructure design

    Knowledge of Section 38, Section 278 and Section 104 agreements

    Experience dealing with planning authorities and utility providers

    Understanding of drainage, highways and earthworks design principles

    Strong communication and project management skills

    Ability to manage multiple developments simultaneously

    Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
