How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Business Development Manager – Transport & Logistics

    Location: Birmingham / West Midlands – Remote / Field Based
    Salary: £40,000+ DOE
    Commission: Attractive commission structure
    Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
    Expenses: Business travel expenses reimbursed

    365 People are recruiting for an experienced Business Development Manager to join a growing transport and logistics business based in the West Midlands.

    This is a genuine new-business sales position with a clear focus on winning new B2B customers, generating revenue and developing new accounts into long-term, recurring business.

    We're looking for somebody who already understands the transport and logistics sector and can demonstrate a successful track record of identifying opportunities, opening doors and converting prospects into paying customers.

    This is not a traditional account management role. We need somebody who can create and develop their own pipeline and confidently demonstrate:

    “I identified the opportunity, won the customer and generated the revenue.”

    The Role

    You'll be responsible for developing new business across the UK, targeting SMEs through to larger corporate customers.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    * Identifying and targeting new B2B customers

    * Generating leads through cold calling, networking, referrals and industry contacts

    * Building and managing your own new-business pipeline

    * Arranging and attending prospective customer meetings

    * Understanding customer transport requirements and identifying suitable solutions

    * Preparing quotations and commercial proposals

    * Negotiating rates while maintaining commercially viable margins

    * Managing the complete sales cycle from prospecting through to negotiation, close and onboarding

    * Winning new same-day, dedicated transport and freight opportunities

    * Converting urgent or one-off transport requirements into recurring customer accounts

    * Developing strong relationships with decision-makers

    * Working closely with operations to ensure new contracts are successfully implemented

    * Monitoring pipeline activity, opportunities and revenue generated

    * Representing the business professionally at customer meetings and networking opportunities

    What We're Looking For

    You'll need proven new-business sales experience within transport or logistics.

    We're particularly interested in candidates with experience across:

    * Same-day courier and express transport

    * Dedicated transport

    * Road freight and general haulage

    * Freight forwarding

    * Time-critical logistics

    * B2B transport solutions

    You'll need to demonstrate a genuine track record of personally winning new customers, including examples of accounts or contracts you've secured and the revenue you've generated.

    You'll also need strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of transport pricing, margins and profitability, alongside the confidence to prospect from cold and negotiate with senior decision-makers.

    Experience working for a recognised same-day, courier, freight or transport operator would be particularly advantageous.

    Package

    £40,000+ basic salary, depending on experience, with an attractive commission structure based on performance.

    The position offers remote/field-based working, ideally for somebody based in Birmingham or the wider West Midlands, with business travel expenses reimbursed.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an established transport sales professional to join a growing operation where you'll have genuine autonomy and the opportunity to play a major part in its commercial growth.

    If you know the transport market, can open doors and have the figures to demonstrate what you've personally won, we'd like to hear from you.
