How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Willand, Somerset
    Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour
    Pay Frequency: Weekly
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
    Contract: Temporary with ongoing work available

    Meridian Business Support is recruiting for an Assembly / Production Operative to join an established manufacturing business in Willand, Somerset.
    Supplying specialist aluminium products to the construction industry, our client is looking for reliable and motivated individuals to join their team. This is a practical, hands-on role offering regular weekday hours, ongoing work and the opportunity to develop valuable production and assembly skills.
    No previous manufacturing experience is required, as full training will be provided.

    The Role

    As an Assembly / Production Operative, you will play an important part in supporting the manufacture of specialist aluminium products. Working within a busy production environment, you will help ensure materials are prepared correctly and work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
    Key responsibilities include:

    Assisting with the assembly and manufacture of aluminium products and components
    Preparing materials, parts and equipment for production
    Safely lifting, moving and handling materials around the site
    Supporting the wider production team with day-to-day manufacturing activities
    Carrying out general materials handling and operational duties
    Keeping work areas clean, tidy and organised
    Following company procedures and health and safety requirements
    Working as part of a team to complete work efficiently and to a high standard
    Supporting colleagues across production and operational areas when requiredThis is a physically active role, with much of the working day spent on your feet, moving between work areas and handling materials.
     
    Physical Requirements: Regular manual handling is required, including lifting, carrying and moving aluminium materials and components.

    Skills & Experience

    The successful Assembly / Production Operative will be:

    Reliable, punctual and dependable
    Comfortable working in a practical and physically active environment
    Able to follow instructions and work safely
    Positive, hardworking and able to work effectively as part of a team
    Keen to learn new skills and manufacturing processes
    Committed to maintaining high standards of quality, organisation and housekeepingPrevious experience as a Production Operative, Assembly Operative, Manufacturing Operative, Warehouse Operative, General Operative, Factory Operative, Labourer or Materials Handler would be advantageous.
     
    However, experience is not essential. Full training will be provided, and applications are welcomed from candidates with the right attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn.
