How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting experienced MEP Estimators to work with a number of reputable Tier 1 and Tier 2 UK construction businesses across London, Kent and Essex.

    These are excellent opportunities for commercially minded MEP professionals looking to secure long-term contract work with well-established construction companies delivering a range of high-value projects across the region.

    The Role

    As an MEP Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates across mechanical and electrical packages, working closely with commercial, design and pre-construction teams to ensure projects are priced effectively and competitively.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Preparing detailed MEP estimates and tenders from drawings, specifications and other project information.
    Reviewing tender documentation and identifying scope, risks and opportunities.
    Producing accurate cost plans and detailed bills of quantities.
    Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
    Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and internal commercial teams.
    Carrying out take-offs and assessing labour, materials, plant and subcontract costs.
    Identifying potential value engineering opportunities.
    Assisting with tender submissions and ensuring deadlines are met.
    Maintaining accurate estimating records and cost databases.
    Working closely with project and pre-construction teams throughout the tender process.

    About You

    The successful candidate will ideally have:

    Proven experience working as an MEP Estimator within the UK construction industry.
    Strong knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical building services.
    Experience estimating for Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors is highly desirable.
    A strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
    Experience with MEP take-offs, cost planning and subcontractor procurement.
    Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
    The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively.
    Strong communication and negotiation skills.
    Relevant UK construction experience.
