ELECTRICAL / MEP ESTIMATOR – DATA CENTRES & CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Mech Electrics are recruiting for a long-standing client we've proudly worked with for over 15 years, supporting their growth and recruiting engineering professionals throughout the business.
Due to continued expansion, we're looking for an experienced Project Estimator to join their Critical Infrastructure team.
This isn't simply an electrical take-off role.
We're looking for someone with a strong Electrical / Building Services background who understands how complete MEP projects are put together and enjoys becoming involved in the technical, commercial and delivery strategy behind a tender.
THE ROLE
You'll work on technically demanding projects across Data Centres and Critical Infrastructure, estimating major plant, electrical systems and subcontract packages covering electrical, mechanical and associated construction works.
The position is predominantly electrically biased, but you'll need a good appreciation of complete MEP systems and how individual packages interface during construction.
Working alongside Design, Commercial and Operations, you'll help develop competitive, technically robust tenders that can ultimately be delivered successfully on site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare estimates for Electrical and wider MEP project packages.
• Review drawings, specifications and client tender information.
• Undertake detailed take-offs and build project estimates.
• Issue enquiries to suppliers and specialist subcontractors.
• Analyse subcontractor returns and ensure compliance with tender requirements.
• Attend site visits and engage directly with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Identify commercial and technical risks and opportunities.
• Work with Design teams to develop value-engineered solutions.
• Consider programme, construction methodology and long-lead equipment during estimating.
• Compile tender documentation through to final internal review and submission.
ABOUT YOU
You'll ideally have developed your career within Electrical or MEP Building Services and understand both the commercial and practical aspects of delivering construction projects.
We're particularly interested in candidates who have:
• Previous Building Services estimating experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems with an appreciation of complete MEP installations.
• Experience estimating Data Centres, comms rooms, critical environments or technically demanding Building Services projects.
• The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications and communicate confidently with clients and project teams.
Data Centre experience would be highly attractive, but we're also interested in good Building Services Estimators from other complex environments who have the technical ability and ambition to move into Critical Infrastructure.
THE OPPORTUNITY
