How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    REGISTERED MANAGER CHILDREN'S RESIDENTIAL HOME

    Reports to: Regional Manager

    Direct reports: Registered Home's Managers / home staff team

    About the Role We are looking for an experienced and inspirational Registered Manager to lead one of our residential children's homes, providing high-quality care to children and young people with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties (SEMH). You will be responsible for compliance, operational management, staff development, and positive outcomes for every child in our care.

    Key Responsibilities Lead and support the senior management team to ensure the home operates effectively and meets all quality standards Line manage staff, providing mentorship, supervision, and professional development Manage staffing, recruitment, and workforce planning, including permanent, bank, and agency staff Oversee referrals, admissions, and care practices to meet individual needs Deliver the service within budget and occupancy targets, supporting continuous improvement Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and contractual obligations, including Ofsted requirements Monitor care plans, risk assessments, and activity programmes, ensuring regular review Investigate incidents, complaints, and allegations, acting as investigating officer where required Build strong relationships with Local Authorities, LADO, Ofsted, and other professionals Fulfil Health & Safety and safeguarding responsibilities for children and staff Keep up to date with legislation, research, and best practice in childcare and SEMH

    Person SpecificationQualifications & Compliance Essential Recognised Social Work qualification or Level 4+ professional qualification relevant to working with children Level 4+ Management or Leadership qualification (Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services if undertaken after January 2011) Enhanced DBS check valid for working with children and young people Full UK driving licence

    Qualifications & Compliance Desirable Additional childcare or leadership qualifications

    Knowledge & Skills Essential Good knowledge and experience of law and practice relating to looked after children Knowledge of statutory and regulatory guidelines governing residential childcare services Understanding of childcare, child development, and SEMH needs Awareness of the social, emotional, educational, cultural, religious, and recreational needs of young people Strong business and operational management skills Financial management and budgetary oversight experience Competent in Microsoft Office and electronic care management systems Ability to lead, delegate, and motivate staff Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service

    Knowledge & Skills Desirable Working knowledge of Local Authority commissioning and placement processes

    Experience Essential Minimum 2 years' experience in residential care within the last 5 years At least 1 year supervising and managing professional staff Experience working with young people with SEMH in a residential setting Experience working with a range of professionals (Local Authority Social Workers, Therapists, Commissioning Teams)

    Experience Desirable Experience of managing HR processes and staff development Experience of supporting and implementing business growth Fieldwork (children's) experience
