How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    First People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Skilled Welder to join our client's aviation engineering operation at Prestwick International Airport, Ayrshire.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TIG Welder, or a candidate with strong TIG welding training, to take the next step in their career and develop specialist skills within the aviation and aerospace sector.

    The successful candidate will work within a specialist aircraft maintenance environment alongside experienced engineering and technical teams.

    About the Opportunity

    As part of their continued growth, they are looking to appoint a skilled and motivated Welder to support aircraft component repair and maintenance activities.

    This role offers the opportunity to develop your technical skills within a highly regulated aviation environment, with full training provided.

    Key Responsibilities

    As a Skilled Welder, your responsibilities will include:

    Carrying out TIG welding on aluminium, stainless steel, Inconel and titanium components.
    Maintaining a consistently high standard of workmanship.
    Working from engineering drawings and technical information.
    Completing all required maintenance documentation in line with company procedures.
    Assisting with the organisation, assessment and evaluation of repairs.
    Supporting the ordering and tracking of materials and spare parts.
    Working in accordance with company regulations, procedures and health & safety requirements.
    Working closely with experienced engineers and supporting the development of technical skills within the team.
    Undertaking additional duties as required by management.About You

    We're looking for candidates who can demonstrate a strong foundation in TIG welding and who are keen to develop their career within aviation.

    You should ideally have:

    Practical experience in TIG welding, or strong college-level TIG welding training.
    Experience working with aluminium, Inconel or titanium would be highly desirable.
    Knowledge of sheet-metal work or tinsmith practices would be advantageous.
    The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical information.
    Previous experience with component inspection or compiling work packs would be desirable, but is not essential.
    Excellent spoken and written English.
    A flexible and proactive approach to working in a fast-paced environment.
    The ability and willingness to work a shift pattern, including occasional nights and weekends.You must also have, or be willing to work towards:

    Company Component Release Stamp (CRS) approval
    CAA Welder ApprovalTraining & Career Development

    Aviation experience is not essential for this position.

    Full training will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for a skilled TIG Welder looking to transfer their existing skills into the aviation and aerospace industry.

    You'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced aviation engineers, develop specialist aircraft component welding skills and work towards relevant industry approvals.
