How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role

    As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will provide safe, consistent and child-centred care while supporting the wider residential team.

    * Build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people

    * Lead and support Residential Support Workers during shifts

    * Support young people with EBD, challenging behaviour and emotional needs

    * Support daily routines, education, appointments and activities

    * Promote independence, confidence and positive outcomes

    * Complete accurate records, reports, care plans and handovers

    * Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child protection

    * Work collaboratively with families, social workers and other professionals

    What We're Looking For

    * Level 3 in Children & Young People, Residential Childcare or equivalent

    * At least 12 months' experience supporting children and young people

    * Previous experience within a children's residential home

    * Experience supporting EBD, SEMH or challenging behaviour

    * Confidence supporting colleagues and taking responsibility during shifts

    * Strong safeguarding knowledge and professional boundaries

    * Flexibility to work long days, weekends and sleep-ins

    * Full UK driving licence

    What's On Offer

    * £16.25 – £16.85 per hour depending on experience

    * £62.64 per sleep-in, typically 4–8 per month

    * Full time, 39-hour permanent contract

    * Ongoing training and professional development

    * Career progression towards Deputy Manager and Registered Manager

    * Regular supervision and management support

    This role would suit a Senior Residential Support Worker, Senior Children's Support Worker, Residential Childcare Worker, Children's Residential Team Leader or an experienced Support Worker ready to progress.

    The home is based in Hemel Hempstead and may be accessible from Watford, St Albans, Berkhamsted, Harpenden, Luton and surrounding areas.
