How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Multiskilled Engineer - Nightshift
    Wembley
    £52,000 to £54,000

An established Wembley food manufacturer is looking for a Multiskilled Engineer with an electrical bias to cover its evening shift. Talent Guardian is managing the process on their behalf.

Evening cover on a food production site is where good engineers earn their money. Fewer people on site, less time to wait for a second opinion, and a real premium on getting the diagnosis right first time. If you like the autonomy that comes with that, this will suit you.

The shift Tuesday to Saturday, 14:30 to 00:00. 45 hour contract, fully site based in Wembley. Salary £52,000 to £54,000 per annum, depending on experience. The evening shift carries a premium over the equivalent day role.

    The role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will look after planned and reactive maintenance across the plant during evening production. That means strong diagnostics, getting to root cause quickly, and recording everything properly on the CMMS so the day team picks up a clear handover.

You will also be expected to spot improvements. The business wants engineers who flag the recurring issues and suggest the fix, not just the ones who reset the machine and move on.

    Your day to day
Planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across production equipment
Fault diagnosis, root cause analysis and returning equipment to service safely and quickly
Logging inspections, completed work and faults on the site CMMS
Routine checks around the workshop and production areas to company schedule
Identifying and proposing improvements to reliability and line efficiency
Keeping tools and work areas in good order and reporting defects immediately
Working to all site health, safety and food safety standards What you will need
City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or similar
Two years or more within FMCG or food manufacturing
Solid electrical and mechanical fault finding in an automated or heavy industrial setting
Familiarity with tray sealers (Proseal, PA), conveyors, mixers, can openers, oil depositors, vertical baggers, metal detectors, combi units, X-ray, labelling and date coding equipment
CMMS experience (Shire, Workmate, M-Com or similar)
    Good Excel and Word
Someone who works well on their own initiative and communicates clearly at all levels The package
£52,000 to £54,000 depending on experience
    Permanent, full time, 45 hours
Tuesday to Saturday evenings, giving you Sunday and Monday off
A stable engineering team on an established site with ongoing investment Apply through Talent Guardian with an up to date CV. Every application is treated confidentially and we will give you full client details before anything is sent forward
