How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title:
    Repairs Controller

    Hours:

    Client Summary:
    A specialist engineering business operating within the rail industry, providing technical products and services to major customers across the sector. The business is growing and offers the opportunity to join an established production and engineering environment with a strong focus on quality, safety and technical standards.

    Position Summary:
    The Repairs Controller is responsible for overseeing and delivering repair projects from initial inspection through to testing, quality approval and dispatch. This is a hands-on technical role, combining physical repair work and fault diagnosis with planning, documentation, production coordination and team supervision. Working closely with Engineering, Quality and Production, the role ensures repairs are completed safely, efficiently and in line with rail industry regulations and customer requirements.

    Expected Roles:
    * Supervise and support Repairs staff, including objectives, appraisals and regular 1-to-1s.
    * Inspect and assess returned components to identify faults, root causes and required repairs.
    * Carry out hands-on repairs to components, parts and assemblies in line with technical specifications.
    * Interpret technical drawings, OEM specifications and failure reports to determine appropriate repair solutions.
    * Plan and schedule repair activities around production requirements, workshop capacity and parts availability.
    * Coordinate repair workstreams to meet agreed turnaround times.
    * Carry out testing and quality checks to ensure repaired components meet required standards before dispatch.
    * Maintain accurate repair records, inspection reports, test results and certificates of conformity.
    * Support root cause analysis and provide technical feedback to Engineering and R&D teams.
    * Technical support for field issues and customer escalations when required.
    * Work closely with Engineering, Quality and Production teams to ensure approved repair procedures are followed.
    * Produce repair reports, KPIs and performance data to support production and engineering activity.
    * Support audits and ensure all repair activities comply with relevant rail industry regulations and company procedures.

    Requirements:
    * Strong ability to inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical/electrical components.
    * Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
    * Good understanding of root cause analysis, testing and quality assurance processes.
    * Experience supervising, supporting or leading a small technical/production team.
    * Good IT and systems skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.
    * Experience within the rail industry or another highly regulated engineering sector would be advantageous.
    * Experience on pneumatics would be advantageous.
